Customer Reviews

A chatter phone, but not as pictured.I purchased the item as I was hoping it would be the same style as pictured. Unfortunately, it wasn't as I recieved a smaller and newer type with rounded off edges and a yellow dial vs. as pictured. I returned the item as it was not the same as pictured. 3Love this!I love the classics Fisher Price has released as part of their "retro" collection. We have all of them...the record player...buzzy bee....snoopy dog...the clock...and of course you have to have the chatter telephone. This works exactly like the classsic one your remember from back in the day...makes a clicking buzzing sound when its being pulled forward by a string and eyes move up and down. Rotary dial clicks on a bell mechanism inside when you turn it. Phone comes off the handle and is attached by a short string. I supervise my toddler with this toy...but because I am a worrier, i dont recommend leaving a toddler unattended with it as a long string is attached and can pose a strangulation hazard.... 5Similar to my childhood toy, but they don't make things like they used to.How I survived my childhood with this toy, I don't know. Supposedly it was hazardous. This newer version still has the rotary dial with the same ringing (which I loved and still love--no batteries). The eyes move up and down when the wheels roll. The receiver seems a lot lighter in weight than I remember. The pull cord is very thin and cheap. I tie it up in a bow so it doesn't get caught or be a hazard. The cord attached to the receiver part is very short. For my almost 11-month old to hold it up to her ear, she has to lift up the whole phone. My daughter is petite in height, so since the toy is technically for age 12 months, I can really see the main phone go swinging when a child tries to bring the receiver to the ear. The cord to the receiver is the same thin cord as the pullcord--but a different color. I know a longer cord would be a choking hazard (that's my guess as to why it's so short), but it sure would make the phone a little more fun to use--so eventually a toddler could dial AND pretend to talk on the phone at the same time. 3I really wanted to love this toyI really wanted to love this toy, i got it for my 4YO son who loves Toystory. When it arrived i was shocked of how small it is, if you keep the phone on the floor and try to pick it up you will have to bend to be able to use it, both cords are too small. Then i though maybe its not age appropriate for my 4 YO son so we convinced him to give it to his younger sister whos 1.9yo and even though she is very tiny the same problem happened she couldn t use it without bending cause the cord is too short.I am very disappointed 1Very cute, bright colors, and my son loves ...Very cute, bright colors, and my son loves the idea of it, but the cord is WAY to short for him to even lift the headset up to his ear. The only way he can talk on the phone is by putting the whole thing very near to his face. I am sure this is a safety feature to prevent strangling or something, but it makes it very impractical/impossible to use. 1THIS PHONE!!!So I got this phone for my kids for Christmas... I thought "oh, how great!" I won't have to share my phone for their pretend business phone calls. You know every parents dream. They loved it! I was happy. Then... I believe it was a few days after Christmas. My son brings me his phone, tells me the phone call is for me, SILLY ME! who is it, it's my brothers (my son only has a sister) I tell him oh you don't have a brother just a sister. He looks me dead in the eyes and says... no it's my brothers, they are coming to live with us and they want to talk to you. I laugh it off, oh hahaha, kids say funny things... RIGHT?! right........... GUESS WHO IS PREGNANT???????? This phone......... 5Go Retro!Childhood flashbacks. I bought it this past mother's day for one of my younger sisters (age 50, seriously) who coveted it when the other sister (age 46 now) received it when they were both little kiddos! She STILL talks about how she wanted this phone (which our youngest sis got), and not the stand-up Victorian-version plastic phone that was her gift that Christmas. I decided to right the wrong! She has put the phone on a bookshelf in her home. :) Our 86 year old dad thought my purchase was basically insane, judging by his shade. But it made me happy to make my sister smile. I was especially thrilled that Amazon had the "retro" version. The new version is not half as cute. Beware of the difference if you order it. After it arrived from Amazon, I was stunned to find the retro Chatter Phone sitting on the shelf in my local Hallmark, for the same price I paid on Amazon. 5Exact retro as described.I love it. I was holding my breath on this item simply because I thought I was going to receive a knock off imitation. I am very satisfied and happy to receive this toy. I am trying to collect all the Toy story toys that appear in the movies and this was one of them I thought was going to be hard to get. I'm so glad I finally got a hold of one. Its exactly what its described. Classic retro chatter telephone. Well worth your money. 2 thumbs up. 5Super cute, fun for babyI guess I'm one of the few people who is glad that the cords are made short in consideration of safety. When I saw my baby roll over with the phone in her hand, I can see where a child can easily get tangled in a longer cord. Naturally, I always supervise my child when she plays with any toy. Still I prefer not having to detangle her, just the process alone can potentially be scary for a baby, I'm sure. I do understand the complaint that others have, but my baby still has a lot of fun playing with this toy. I like the fact that some of the vintage toys are still being made, so that generations of family members can play with the same (or at least very similar) toys! 5Poor quality, peeling stickers!Very disappointed! Right out of the box the applied stickers were coming off the plastic. I would ve thought the details were painted on, but they are not. I m certain this would not of lasted more than a week. Also, the cords are absurd Lee short but I m guessing that s probably a safety requirements so that little ones can t accidentally strangle themselves. 1
