Customer Reviews

Lasted a Solid One and A Half Yearswe are one our second snail. While that may have you questioning the quality of this product... Don't. My daughter loves this thing and has put it through quite the beating. It's gone up and down the streets of Seattle daily. It's gone up and down a lot of cement stairs. It is solid. Yes the paint will start to grind away if you use it on cement or pavement, but it has lost no charm. The best aspect of this is that if it flips over, it still work. Perfect for a 1 year old who's walking. Our first snail broke when my daughter, now 2.5, dropped it on a cement stair. The wooden wheel split in two. Closer examination showed that all the trips up and down stairs introduced small hairline cracks in the wheels. Just normal wear and tear for a well lived wooden toy. 5Go, Gary, Go!I bought this for my son when he was 9 months old. He had very little interest in it initially. He was a late walker at 15 months. Around 18 months, he really started to "get" the pull toy concept. He now enjoys taking his snail for walks all over the house. Aesthetically, plan toys are so much nicer than the typical plastic eyesores you see everywhere. Gary is adorable to look at, and very durable. He shows some slight wear on the tops of his eyes as a result of my son "walking" him in the upside-down position on the kitchen floor; but it just gives him some character. Bless his little snail heart. 5Cute colorful pull snail. There was this toy when our family visited my wife's friend's daughter's second birthday party. Among 10+ kids my son bravely grabbed this toy and was crawling with it. He fell in love with it, I had to get it. Once we bought one he was really happy. Now he is little over Year and half but he still plays with it. It is made out of solid wood and the pulling mechanic is awesome that even adults like it. The colors are nice and overall build quality is nice. Plan Toys makes good quality toys, I have another plan toys with car rails. Overall I recommend this product.! 5Better Than the Alligator! We have the snail and the Dancing Alligator. This one is better. While the Alligator certainly makes more noise and is a great toy, it is prone to tipping over and our toddler ends up just dragging it around on its side or its back. The Snail however, has no "upside down". It works right side up or upside down and always manages to right itself if it gets on its side for some reason. Can't say the same for the Alligator. Our family is happy with both. Nevertheless if this is your first purchase and you're trying to decide between the Snail and the Dancing Alligator, you might be happier with the Snail. 5CUTE AND VERY WELL MADE!This toy says it is perfect for 19 months to 3 years. Our granddaughter enjoyed it the most from 13 months to 18 months. She is now almost 19 months and still pulls it around some, but it doesn't hold her interest as much as it did when she was younger. It is very cute and very well made.UPDATE January 2015 We went to visit our almost 28 month old granddaughter for a week. During our visit, she did pull her snail out several times and take off running around and around around the house pulling her snail!!!! So it seems the manufacturer is right about it being good for up to age three, but I still say the lower age of interest should start sooner than 19 months. It makes a good "exercise companion" for her, especially on cold winter days when it is too cold to play outside!! 4A beautiful toy that has become part of the familyA beautiful toy that has become part of the family. I was a little apprehensive of this as a toy at first because I just assumed that although it is striking in appearance with its vibrant colors yet simplistic and sturdy design, that it wouldn't get played with very often. I could not have been more wrong. My daughter received it as a gift 7 years ago when she was just a few weeks old, started playing with it as soon as she became interested in toys, and continues to play with it today. She and her brother have dubbed it the family pet and are quite attached to its presence in the playroom. I've since bought it as a baby shower gift for others. I love a toy that can stand the test of time, use and heart. 5A favorite toy in our houseWe love wooden toys and among our collection of them (quite a few between our toddler and baby), this is a big favorite. Even my 3-year-old still plays with it and gets a kick out of the clicking noise the rolling wood makes on our wood floors. The snail looks really cute when it rolls along and the snail body moves up and down. We also play with the snail as a puppet (moving the head via the string) and always get lots of laughs. The snail is well-made and sturdy it has held up pretty well through so, so many times of being dropped down, instead of set down, by our toddler. The dowel connecting the snail house did break a few months ago, though I attribute that to being dropped lots over the course of a couple of days. We were able to fix that with a new dowel piece (from Michaels) that's one of the things I love about wooden toys, you can fix them if they break! Our toddler was anxiously awaiting the snail being repaired and asked about it every day until it was put together again.I wouldn't have thought that a simple pull toy would be played with so much and for so long, so I would definitely highly recommend this for babies and toddlers. 5The cutest snail!I LOVE this snail (probably more than my own son)! He likes to play with it, but I think I got it too early for him (either that or he doesn't understand how to use it). When he walks, he picks the whole things up and walks with it dangling in the air. It's honestly super cute, but I did notice the toy is recommended for ages 18 months and up. The toy itself is beautifully made with colors that aren't too bright and a perfect finish. I would def recommend purchasing this toy. 5Quality Toy, My Toddler Loves It!My little boy LOVES this snail. He pulls it all over the house! I chose this one over the alligator because other reviews says this one doesn't really have an upside down, and will keep rolling no matter which way it's flipped. I am SO GLAD I took the advice of others, because it really can flip over easily and I can see how frustrating it would be if it would no longer roll once flipped. This one keeps on going! The movement it makes as it is pulled is adorable. One of our better toy purchases, since this actually gets played with! 5Fantastic Well Built Toy for a ToddlerUse - Great little toy. It actually turns on itself quite nicely. My nephew (8 months) just learning how to walk loved it. It's made of wood but well made and polished so no risk of splinters. It is sturdy so it also served as a useful drum for him to bang on the ground. The motion when pulled is kind of hypnotic and he enjoyed watching the colors move around. Quickly became his favorite Christmas present.Comparison: Not much to compare to but it seems like everything else was plastic and poorly made at the big box store. This toy is well made and designed to lastValue: More expensive than similar plastic toys but a good value for a nice traditional made toy that can last through heavy toddler use and probably can be handed down or donated through a few toddlers before it eventually needs to be replaced 5
