CraplasticNon-durable, non-giftable plastic that was quite expensive and only lasted 2 months (if that) with easy playing. It never got to function in sand or dirt. The bucket broke off the arms of the front end part before we could take this outside this past spring. I quickly bought our son a different brand (CAT) for his inside and outside play as this one was a birthday gift. An expensive disappointment. 2Not durable enough for young kidsThe problem with this toy is that it isn't durable enough for the target audience. My 12 year old has played with his little brother with it a little bit and he can operate it carefully enough that it is great. The details are great and if your are old enough easily operable. The problem is that the target audience of kids that you will be buying this for is between 3 and 6 when kids will actually want to play with it.For these younger kids it is to fidgety to get it to work right, so they end up forcing it and it then easily breaks. Ours is 6 months old and the front loader is broken off, the backhoe doesn't extend as it did and one of the mirrors is broken off. It just isn't that durable for real play. 2My son loves these trucks!!!My son has about 15 Bruder toys. Most of my family has bought him these trucks. They are amazing and beautiful. Solid construction and very realistic. My 4 year played with these and they suffered a little.... Now that he is 7, the trucks he's gotten recently (past year) are still perfect... The older ones have become outside toys which is probably not the intention since they are not holding up as well. These are superior to any plastic Tonka or other popular you brands of trucks. I am also grateful since the packaging is mostly frustration free. 5An Excellent InvestmentThese are a great line of toys. They hold up very well to the amount of abuse inflicted by my two and six year old boys. My two year old loves to sit on and ride the larger trucks as though he were driving them. The diggers also work surprisingly very well with hard compacted dirt as reflected in the many holes created in my front lawn. My four year old daughter also loves spending endless hours digging with her brothers and to tell the truth, it is good family fun for those of us who refuse to grow up. I plan to purchase many more in the future and with Bruder's large variety of construction, farming and services, imagination is limitless. An excellent investment!!! 5Realistic Details! Fun!We have four Bruder construction toys so this review is going to show up in all four places. These are all very well made, lots of details. They are made of plastic and of course could be broken but they were thoughtfully designed and are reasonably durable. The mirrors on the Mack dump truck are probably the weakest item, but if they were to break off the truck would be otherwise functional. Toys break. We took this as an opportunity to try to help our three year old grandson understand that a little care was required if he wanted these to last and he's responded well. So far, nothing's broken on any of them, despite hours of use.These all have so much intriguing detail that the kids are immediately drawn to them. We have about a hundred buckeye nuts for them to push around and load without making a difficult mess. They all have moving parts that allow them to perform their real world functions. There are detents built in to hold position, so for example with the bulldozer, backhoe and front loader, the blades can be fixed and held in several different positions.As far as toys go, these are a little pricey but even a three year old understands from the detail that these are different that the coarser, simpler $5 - $10 equivalents. These clearly look like the "real" things. We've all had a lot of fun with these.This was the first of the four Bruder construction toys we bought and likes so much that we added to the set. It's also probably the most easily broken, especially the detailed parts on the backhoe, but so far, despite some aggressive assaults, everything's held up and continues to delight the kids. 5Wish I bought a TonkaI'm very disappointed at the quality of this toy, it's all plastic, not the nice sturdy kind, the cheap kind. At least they could have made the joints have some metal where they're pivoting. First the backhoe stopped working at the joint 3 weeks after purchase, now the front loader completely broke off, so now we only have a yellow tractor with nothing to play in the dirt with. 1All lightweight plastic. Seems low quality.Looks neat but seems really overpriced for something made entirely made of lightweight plastic. For this price I was expecting something durable and heavy. Feels about the same quality I would expect in a $20 toy. I don't expect it to last very long at the hands of a toddler playing outside despite costing more than the all-steel toys from Tonka, etc. 3Surprisingly robust. Son's favorite toy.Bought this for my 2yo son on his 2nd birthday, as he is crazy about tractors. This has been his absolute favorite toy and he plays with it just about daily in the dirt and gravel. Although it does seem to be closer to a "model" than a toy for children with all of the accurate details and articulating backhoe, it has somehow survived this whole time. Only one break in one spot on the backhoe from a less careful and aggressively enthusiastic cousin, but I was able to repair it, fortunately. He was devastated... Bought him a Bruder bulldozer for his birthday this weekend and I'll be looking for other Bruder tractors in the future. Really amazed it's held up as well as it has. Absolutely worth the seemingly exorbitant price if your kid really likes tractor toys, and a cool collectible for an adult into them as well. 5Price Reflects the Details, High QualityI purchased this as a gift for my son's 4th birthday. He is obsessed with all construction type machines, so I wanted to get him a vehicle with working parts and as much detail as possible to resemble the real thing. The levers and handles are easy for him to use and there are no batteries to replace and no screws to worry about losing or coming loose. Details you may not be able to see from the photos: dashboard impressions of gauges/buttons, steering wheel turns (but not connected to drive it), rubber tires (not stiff plastic) with Bruder and tire size shown on the outside, two pull down stablizers in the back and even the underside shows where the axels are with a clean thoughout look (no exposed metal rods/parts). The back hoe arm is removable, if you want to purchase additional accessories to go with it. The whole toy is made of a strong, quality plastic which will hold up to heavy use over the next few years. The prices are steep for Bruder toys, but the quality and details all line up with their price point. 5Excellent trucks!The Bruder Trucks are my absolute favorite and we have 2 for my son (2 year old). I will warn you, though, if you're buying for someone under the age of 3 - you need to supervise their play with these trucks. My son plays very rough with these and can break off doors (they reattach easily) and some of the tiny pieces. It's not a problem with the truck - they clearly state that the age recommendation is 3+. They are very well made, and the plastic is high quality. A nice size, too! All the pieces move. Love love love these trucks and can't wait for my son to be able to really play with them properly! 5
