    Not exactly a great deal....I too missed that it has wooden marbles. They are too light to play with as they go every which way. So the first thing you need to do is to buy a set of glass marbles for the game. And, at that point, you might as well spend the money for a bigger board that comes with glass marbles.It's a small board, and that's ok with me because I doubt that 6 people will ever be playing. But, if you need to have room for 6 players, I'd buy a much bigger board.All in all, you are paying for a small board and will need to buy marbles for it, and they are not cheap here on Amazon. 3Lovely game, well madeWell made, quality product. I love the wood!I have only 2 minor issues with this purchase.1.The "game box" it comes in does not allow the board and marbles to fit back in nicely for storage. I put the marbles in a sandwich baggie so as not to lose them and the box does not accommodate that easily.2. It is slightly difficult to pick up and move the wooden marbles. The marbles fit nicely in the holes on the board and look lovely, but I think there just isn't quite enough room to get your fingers around marble to easily move.It is a very nice set however, much nicer then a lot of other ones I've seen. I would purchase again or give as gift. 4Very solid boardVery good value for money. Nice deep holes. But don t like lightweight wooden marbles. Slightly easier to puck up than glass. Very light, if any, finish. Immediately decided to sand with 240/320 sandpaper then treated with lemon oil. Plan to do this regularly for a while as my only concern if the two joints holding the sections of wood together will hold. Hope they have dowels, but at this price I doubt it. This will be a long-term (I hope) issue though. Wait and see.Giving 4 stars because of a couple of slight rough spots and the wood marbles. But I think that it would be very hard to beat this quality and price-point. 4Very nice set, wooden board and pieces, fun for all agesChinese checkers is a favorite game that I used to play as a kid with my family. It was always a fun game, intuitive and makes you think, yet easy for all ages to pick up and play. I've been trying to find this game for a while now as an adult, but have only found the cheap cardboard versions, which just seems awful. They seem like they would get ruined immediately, and they just look and feel cheap.My husband bought me this wooden version for my birthday, and I love it! The balls are wooden as well, so everything is just really nice. It didn't really come with much instruction, although there's not much needed. It came in a cardboard box, and that's the way you store it. Seems kind of funny to have a nice wooden game set, stored in a cardboard box. BUT, the price was great, and I don't need a fancy wooden box to store it in if it's going to tack a bunch onto the price. The pieces and board are wooden, so it's not like they'll get crushed in a cardboard box.This is a really nice game set, and it's a lot of fun to play! 5Don't buy, its like a weird Chinese finger trap with odd wood marbles.The 1 star we did give it was because the board was made of wood (not flimsy cardboard though that may have been more usable) and shipping was fast.Everything else was pretty bad.We do woodwork on the side, so a wood base sounded great.Either the base isn't planed down enough or the marble holes are cut way too deep. Grabbing the marbles (though I'm not sure I would call wooden balls 'marbles') is nearly impossible. We literally had to use pliers at times. The holes are cut well below the half way mark for the marble size - this means they sit further down into the hole more than half way.Then there's the box. We all think of game boxes as having two halves, where one closes over the other. This means the game can be nestled, nicely, into the box without concern that any pieces will go missing. This isn't that box. It's an odd box where, when shipped shrink wrapped, you pull the game board and marbles out as one unit - once that shrink wrap is removed theres zero chance of containing all marbles within the box. It opens from the side like a Manila envelope, except the other side will easily open and there isn't a metal clasp to hold it closed.In order to return, we literally had to wrap it like a weird pizza with saran wrap. I guess the 1 game play (although frustrating as you have to use pliers) was worth the saran wrap to return.Don't buy. 1Great board, ok piecesI like the wood board - it's thick and solid but not heavy. Perfect size for a few people to play but maybe a bit small if all 6 play at once. The balls are a very lightweight painted wood material and this makes them harder to grasp and move around. I grew up with a set like this that used real glass marbles and those were superior. Another small issue I have with these pieces is that when black and blue or yellow and white are played at the same time the colors can be hard to tell apart. The blue is very dark and the yellow is light. Usually, though, fewer people play and we can just use more contrasting colors. I think I'll look to buy real marbles to eventually replace the balls that came with this set but for its price I'd say this was a good buy. 4Quality is good, but design is poorQuality is good, but design is poor: does not play well.Wooden marbles are light and hard to grip, with slippery paint job. Deep cutouts mean you have to really pinch the marble between thumb and forefinger to get it out, causing marble to sometimes slip out of your fingers and go flying. Marbles holes are drilled too close to each other for adults fingers, causing you to knock other marbles out of position when trying to grab one. Even the cheap tin sets with plastic marbles I had as a kid play better than this one. Make the board bigger to space the holes farther apart, and use plastic or glass marbles for better grip, and you might have a winner. 1Surprised and disappointedThe product I received was exactly as illustrated and exactly as described, so it's my own fault that I didn't read the description or examine the photos carefully enough. I was surprised that the "marbles" were wood and not glass. It never occurred to me that anyone would describe wooden balls as "marbles." I have ordered a set of glass marbles to use with the board (if they fit--fingers crossed), but that will make the set more expensive than expected. 3MISS THE STORAGE PLACE FOR MARBLESBOUGHT AS A REPLACEMENT FOR OUR OLD SET.I GUESS I WAS EXPECTING MORE. OUR OLDER SET HAD A REALLY USEFUL STORAGE PLACE WHERE WE COULD PUT THE MARBLES IN FOR SAFE KEEPING. THIS ONE WAS MISSING THIS NICE IDEA. MARBLES WERE SO SO.. GUESS I MISS MY CATS EYED MARBLES. IT IS STURDELY BUILT. CHINESE CHECKERS ARE GREAT TO PLAY WITH GRANDKIDS AND ADULTS. 3Very disappointed.The game arrived missing a marble and with a cracked marble. There are also multiple marbles with cracked paint on them already and I haven't even unwrapped the board. Very disappointed. 1
