    Good board, bad markersI purchased the set because it had very good ratings and reviews, but when I received it the marbles had multiple cracks and divots on top of being very similar colors. If the marbles were in better condition I would rate this in the area of four stars, but as it is I am thinking about returning just because I think one of them is cracked all the way in half and I'm not opening it like that. The board at least this very nice with deep grooves. 2It's okay...I read reviews ahead of time about how the marbles were bad but mainly wanted the board. The board was good. Exactly what I wanted but the marbles weren't good at all (as expected). The board's the only reason I gave three stars. If it weren't for that I would've given one star. 3Attractive, as advertised.This is a very nice set. It appears to be made of a heavy wood, which is sturdy, and pleasant to look at, and comes with all the marbles. Another reviewer complained about the lightest colored ten, but if you don t care for the colors of the included marbles, it s not hard to replace them. It is true that the cardboard box the set comes in does not accommodate both the frame and the marbles very well. This leaves one with the problem of where to keep the marbles when the game is not being used. 4Perfect Size, Good Quality, Outstanding Value!Finally! A Chinese Checkers set with deep enough holes that the marbles stay put in them and spaced far enough apart that you can actually get your fingers in to move the marbles without sending everything on the board scattering to the four corners of the earth, annoying everyone involved and disrupting the entire game!The 15-inch diameter board is made of solid wood with deep-drilled holes, stained in a lovely redwood hue that is aesthetically worthy of being left out for show on any gaming table, and is adequately proportioned for a legitimate Chinese Checkers game using standard-sized marbles. Marbles come in six distinctly different, pearlized colors. This set is wonderfully reminiscent of the larger-sized board with real marbles that my brother and I grew up playing as children in the '70s.As another reviewer mentioned, the marbles that come with this set are not entirely perfect; upon close inspection, a few do appear to be slightly irregular. (No big deal; they all look and play just fine. However, if this really bothers you, pick up a set of real marbles for a couple of bucks at any local toy store.) Additionally, in all frankness, it comes rather poorly packaged and said packaging is woefully cheesy looking. This is easily remedied by simply throwing the box directly into the trash bin immediately upon receipt. Proceed to proudly display your lovely new Chinese Checkers set, grab a friend or family member, and enjoy the game as it was meant to be played!We tried two or three sets prior to this one and our children ages 6 and 7 -- even with their tiny fingers -- were ready to give up the game altogether due to the frustration of trying to play on cramped 11-inch boards and, in at least one case (Schilling), with pathetic inferior little lightweight plastic balls. Argh... :/All in all, this is a REALLY nice set that pleases our entire family. Perfectly-sized board -- plenty of room for fingers and players of all ages. Game rules and a cloth bag for marble storage are included. Surprisingly good quality at this price point. An outstanding value. Let the games begin! 5DisappointedVery disappointed. I was hoping this board would have a slot on the side to hold the marbles when your finished with playing. The indentations for the marbles to be set on are not deep enough for us, so with the slightest bump, you guessed it. we start all over again. The game of Chinese Checkers is one that takes me back to my earlier years when we played it at least 3 times a week. 1Picture on box is not accurate.Arrived quickly, good color to the wood. Didn't get red marbles like showed in the picture. Which was one of the reasons I picked it. Instead it has two muted tanish in color sets, a white, black, yellow and green.. I was hoping for contrast which is easier to discriminate when playing. 4Love the gameLove the game. So nice that we leave it sitting out. The only reason that I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because some of the colors of the marbles were too similar and the "red" and "yellow" ones, which were NOT included in the set we received. I like to receive whatever the "box" shows. We did receive 6 sets of marbles, however. I would suggest getting this size game rather than the smaller version esp. if you are playing with adults and more than 2 people. The marbles stay nicely in their places. Still love playing the game after all these years. It's easy to choose a color when there are only 2 playing. I would pay the extra $$ for this size game. It comes with a drawstring pouch but we leave ours sitting out. 4The marbles stay put!Before buying this, we had a cheap set that we received as a gift. Every time we played, picking up one marble would send every other marble rolling in a chain reaction. So when I started looking for a real set, I wanted something that would seat the marbles firmly. This set is perfect. I can move the wooden game board around on the table as needed, confident that the marbles will stay put. It's not difficult to pick up the marbles on your turn as there is room between the pieces. We're very happy with the quality. The marble colors are a bit too similar, but since I could easily replace those, I'm very happy with this set. 5Glad that I opted to pay a little bit more ...Exactly what I expected. Glad that I opted to pay a little bit more to get the larger 15" set with a wooden base because I am pretty confident this will hold up over time, and I see a long future ahead of playing board games with my now 6-year-old...plus it's more attractive in wood. I read reviews saying some of the colors were too similar, and because of this I already ordered an extra set of marbles to have more color choices. The extra marbles haven't arrived yet and, if I hadn't already ordered them, I wouldn't waste my money after seeing this set in person. There isn't really any issue to me. The yellow and white are very distinct from each other, but...sure...maybe the white and pinkish-mauve could get confused in very dim lighting. Right now, though it's daylight outside (5pm), I have most windows covered with heavy drapes because it's summer and it's hot, so the lighting in my house is about mid-level (no artificial lights are on) and I can tell all colors apart from across the room. Maybe I got a good set or something, I'm just saying maybe wait until you get it home to decide if you want/need a bunch of extra marbles lying around. 5Extremely high quality and well-designed for playThis is an extremely high quality set. The board is very thick and heavy and the holes are perfect for the marbles---holds them very securely and yet they are easy to move. I'm not sure how you would make a better Chinese checkers set.On small beef: is this really jumbo? These are very normal or even small sized marbles. The spacing seems normal. I guess i was expecting something bigger. Not to say I'm not satisfied with the quality or playability of this set, though. 5
