Customer Reviews

Could be BetterThis isn't great. It's missing a lot of major features, major bodies of water, groups of islands, etc. The stand can't be angled so looking at the southern hemisphere is annoying--putting the base up in the air. The printing screen registration looks off, making the tiny fonts hard to see. It's ok if you need a small globe for around $10. I'm not sure it's worth much more and it's practical utility is questionable. 3This globe is perfect to give my 5 year old son a sense ...This globe is perfect to give my 5 year old son a sense of the Earth, He keeps it on his nightstand. Now if a question about a far away place comes up we can look on his globe and he can see exactly where it is in relation to us. 5Rugged and clear. Love it!Love it. Does the trick. Sturdy and simple. A little too sturdy for me actually! I wanted to pop the globe out and put it back in stand, but that is not possible - sturdy spindle runs all the way through. To remove the globe, I had to cut the spindle and this is a one-way move. But that gave me a very nice, rugged little globe just right for my purposes. 5Even states are labeledVery nice mini globe. Even the states are labeled which is really useful. Small lettering, but it is a small globe. Seems accurate from what I can tell, and everything is aligned properly. Great choice for a 5 yr old who asked for a globe, since I didn't want a huge one around. 5Perfect for little kids. This globe is perfect for 5 to 6 year old kids. The size is small enough to not be intimidating and their little hands can handle it well. While small, it has all the continents and oceans as well as most of the world's well known countries and cities. The entire globe is plastic and does not smell, which is good for durability since kids tend to drop things on the floor. We have had this for a year now and so far has held up very well. Kids love to rotate the globe, too.For visual size comparison I included a photo next to a common personal sized bottle of water. 5"We've got the whole world in our hands"--amazingly good small globeA sturdy, detailed, small wonder of a globe!Among its outstanding features--it revolves easily without wobbles on the stand--passed my performance test of being ready to "roll and hold" keeping steady on all of the many locations to which I turned it--larger than the diameter (5") might suggest. The circumference around the Equator (shown as a thin raised black line) measures 17" and the overall height is 8" including the stand--excellent colors, bright but not garish, and particularly effective in showing the blue oceans--as far as I could tell, politically up-to-date in showing the countries recognized by the United Nations--quite a few cities marked--all the U.S. States individually indicated--surface appears to be integral rather than paper which can risk peeling under useHowever, buyers should be aware that--a magnifiying glass may be needed to read some of the small-print countries--no globe or map is likely to satisfy every political perspective in what is recognized and what is not as a country--this is a Northern Hemisphere globe /North Pole on top so the Southern Hemisphere countries are less easy to see than where the South Pole is shown on top or where pages of an atlas can show larger scalesThis is not a scholar's globe but it could be an excellent first globe for a young person, introducing the concept of representing location, showing where friends & relations live, connecting to movies and news stories, and igniting imaginations. It is light enough to move easily, takes little storage space, comes in a useful box, and at the Amazon price, is a terrific---an amazing---value. 5Perfect for what I needed, but don't expect the world (haha)This is perfect for what I needed, but don't expect the world...hahaha! I wanted a small globe for my daughter so I could explain where different countries are located. We don't have a ton of space--and she can't read anyway--so I didn't want to go too large. This is the perfect size and includes an amazing amount of detail considering how small (and inexpensive) it is. The quality is so/so -- there are some uneven areas around the equator, but I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of sending back over something so minor. Besides, it's good for me to try and let things go and ignore the imperfection. The globe spins nicely and has been a good reference for showing my daughter different countries and explaining how the earth spins. 4perfect little globeThe other reviewers were helpful in pointing out how small it was, the description says 5" and yep it's that small. But it's perfect for little kids, just their size. It's a good little globe to have anywhere in the house for curious minds to refer to and look at. As mommy gets older she needs to put on her reading glasses to read the tiny print, but it's a great globe! Just teach the little ones to handle it with care and respect, it's plenty sturdy if they follow those instructions. The small size makes it easy to float around the house be left here or there. No big deal. It's great! 5Excellent educational tool for kids and undereducated adults!I bought this globe for my 5th grade classroom to have at a station in my Geography class. The kids love the globe and it is a great way to help kids understand map and and globe features.I like that even though it is small it still includes lines of longitude and latitude. I give my students a set of coordinates and thy locate them on the globe. When I had it at home it is also useful for testing your guests on their basic geography skills. It is small enough that you can leave it out without it becoming an eyesore. This could be a great educational tool, a fun learning toy, or a nice piece of decoration in your home. 5A Bit Small, But a Good Intro GlobeThis globe is a bit small, as I knew, but after seeing it in person I know I'll have to buy a larger globe later. It's for my kids, who are still young, so it will be fine as a starter globe to help them grasp and understand how the world fits together. It will be a good introduction to geography, and will open up discussions about basic world politics. The price is fair at around eight bucks, so it's worth the money. If you need a serious globe for an older student or adult this probably isn't a good choice. 3
