    It's always nice to have a bunch of spares around for prototypingThey're resistors. It's always nice to have a bunch of spares around for prototyping, and they're labelled. Several values are grouped together into the same bag, though, so you still need to learn to read resistor codes if you hope to find exactly the value you're looking for. 5but they are mostly within tolerance and are nice to have around in a pinchThese are cheap resistors with very thin leads, but they are mostly within tolerance and are nice to have around in a pinch. Think of them like a crappy first aid kit that you never want to use, but are grateful for when you accidentally cut yourself. 3Good valueMy set (purchased October 2011) doesn't look like the one pictured. The cardboard box is flimsy. When the outer sleeve is removed, there is a label that describes each of the 18 numbered plastic bags (4 values in each bag). Inside each larger bag is 4 smaller plastic bags, each labeled with the values of the resistors inside.The main label is in three sections (6 bags in each section), In other words bags number 1-6, 7-12, and 13-18 are described with the contents in each bag. It's easy to find the resistor you want by identifying the large bag first, and then the smaller bag inside the large bag.To make this more convenient, I organized the 18 bags, and using 3 binder clips, I clipped the 6 bags of each set together in order, to make it easier to find resistors in the future. while it's not hard to find one bag out of 18, keeping them in order makes it trivial to organize the resistors.It's not great, but the cost is low, so it's hard to complain. 4Good Set of Values, Must Have for EE StudentsThis set of resistors has been great. It comes with 73 different values, 5 of each value (range from 1 ohm to 1 Mohm). This is perfect for an electrical engineering student that is doing projects for school (why I used it) or for hobby projects.PROS:--Comes in organized box: If you don't already have a box for components, the box it comes in is nicely organized. There are six labeled compartments within the box, and each compartment contains three or four ziploc bags. Each bag holds four different values (5 copies each, for a total of 20 resistors in the bag) and contains a piece of paper to label the contents.--Good range of values: 1ohm to 1Mohm will cover most people. In my four years as electrical engineering student, I never required a value outside this range. If you do by chance need something bigger or smaller, just combine.CONS:--Color Bands: They can be a bit hard to see, but once you spend some time working with these, it's not really a problem.--Even Distribution of Values: Some values are more common than others, so I feel like they should have sacrificed a few less common values and made more copies of the common ones. I can't tell you how many times I used up all my 10Kohm resistors on a project and had to borrow some.*Note to Electrical/Computer/Electronics Engineering students: If you are thinking about buying this, just take my word for it and do it. I only used it for my senior year and it was still worth it. For my first three years I went to a school checkout counter to borrow every single resistor that I used. I can't tell you how many times I walked between that counter and my desk. I only regret not buying it sooner. In fact, if you're an underclassman, you may even consider buying two since you will inevitably lose some along the way. 5Well made, accurately describedWell made, nice solid leads. As soon as I received them I began wiring them into projects. I'd very much recommend them for bread boarding or soldered into a circuit. Perfect for the beginner looking for parts or to restock your components. 5Nice kit, only 5 of each valueThis is a nice little kit to get started. I like the variety of resistors, but there are only 5 of each value regardless of their general popularity in electronics projects. They could have included fewer of the less popular (maybe 2 or 3) and more of the more popular (maybe 10 or 15) values.I just breadboarded a project and needed more than 5 10k ohm resistors. Since I'm just getting back into electronics projects I was up a creek. It's easy enough to order individual resistors in bulk from someone like Mouser, but this should get you started.One thing I liked is that each set of resistors comes bagged with a number and there is a key on the box so you know which bag the resistor you're looking for is in. It saves time trying to read the color code of a bunch of random bags to figure out which value is which. 4Good Resitor Starter Set - Highly RecommendedWe are using this 365 piece resistor set to augment the parts that came with the "Elenco 300-in-One Elecronic Project Lab". This set has a great selection of resistors and come packaged in labeled baggies for easy location of the needed value. Each resistor is also marked using the standard "BBROYGBVGW" color code and the few I have tested with an ohm meter are easily within tolerance.Overall I am very happy with this set of resistors.Highly Recommended!CFH 5Nice resistor assortmentArrived on time and as described. Many different values of resistors come in the assortment. All resistors are sorted and labeled in bags for easy identification. Approximately 4 different values in each bag all sequentially sorted (1ohm 1.2ohm 1.5ohm 1.8ohm in bag one; 2.2ohm 2.7ohm 3.3ohm 3.9ohm in bag two; etc). All are 1/2W which is nicer than 1/4W because it can dissipate more heat before failing 53-4 Reisistor values in one bag, still have to measure to find themI was disappointed that I have to go through each bag and separate the resistors to know what is what. I have used other vendors on this and they at least bagged the components separately. I guess it is not that big a deal, but I like to throw the parts in my bin and not have to worry about what resistor goes where, I had to do this with 4 resistors in a bag and my color perception is lacking, so colors are not always easy for me to distinguish. 3TOTAL JUNK! These resistors ARE NOT ...TOTAL JUNK! These resistors ARE NOT 0.5 WATTS!!!! They will be really lucky if they tolerate 0.25 Watt of dissipation across them. Leads are too thin and they fall out of breadboard. Resistances vary up to 20-25% of a single value(let's say 1kOhm resistors are anywhere from 800 to 1250 Ohm). 1
