I specifically purchased a more expensive hat to avoid that. It worked great. The hat is felt, but a thick very sturdy felt, and looks just like the photo in the listing. Not something I would want to get wet, and you wouldn't want to put a lot of weight on it, but for a costuem hat it is perfect. I have a pretty typical sized male head and this fit tight enough where it would take a very stiff gust to blow it off, but not tight enough to irritate me. For under $9 I don't see how you could beat the value. 5
