Customer Reviews

Fun!I bought these for my 4 year old who is learning about the solar system in preschool. I thought it'd be nice to encourage his interest. He absolutely loves these. The bigger planets had to be assembled (putting the two halves together). There are also two stickers with the name of each planet (I found these a little harder to remove from the backing then I expected). The string that is provided is more than sufficient to hang up the planets. It would have been a nice touch if the star shaped push pins glowed in the dark. The included glow in the dark stickers were a pain to remove from the backing so I only used a few. We had some glow in the dark decals on the ceiling already which tied into the theme. The set comes with a little strip of putty and I'm not sure what it's for. Maybe to attach the planets that have to be assembled. These also don't have much glow to them.Overall I would definitely recommend this set. It isn't top of the line but definitely worth the price. I was a bit disappointed that a sun wasn't included but we're just making it a craft project. We'll be making our own this weekend. 4Fun for my son!Product is what i expected. Not top of the line but adequate for our purposes and my 4yr old LOVES them. They larger planets require popping together, much like a plastic easter egg fits together. They are relatively light and hanging was not an issue. The paint job is rather cheap looking but again you pay for what you get. We did not use the labels on each planet and from our ceiling height (9ft) we wouldn't of really been able to clearly see them i suspect. The stars sticker sheet that comes with the package is a joke though! There are a lot of them which is great, but they are tiny and not cut very well. It is next to impossible to pick them off the sheet. No doubt the 4 I managed to tear off will permanently be adhered to the ceiling. I ditched the rest of them. They do glow pretty brightly but it does not last too long. Overall i'm okay with my purchase, my son is enjoying them and the price was right for me. 4 stars for a crappy sticker sheet. 4Love it!We set up the solar system last night and my son was thrilled. It glowed really well and my whole family loved it. My son usually sleeps with a nightlight plus his door open so he can have hallway light coming in. He happily shut off all the lights and shut the bedroom door so he could enjoy the glow in the dark better. I don't think the stars were too tiny and none have peeled off so far. The look of the 3D planets at night is awesome. On the negative side, the string is slippery so it was hard to tie it onto the planets and thumbtacks. We easily stuck the thumbtacks into the ceiling. The planets are a bit cheap looking but the kit is not that expensive so we got what we paid for. We did drop Pluto and it cracked but we can fix it with crazy glue so be careful while hanging them up. We are happy with our purchase and would recommend it to others. I hope this will help my son want to go to bed earlier too :o) 5Fun product, assembly somewhat difficultThis item is great and I gave it four stars only due to the difficulty of assembly and lack of glow. I would still buy again. The product came packaged well. The planets come split in half with wires, sticky puddy, and pins to be used for assembly. The assembly was a long process due to the difficulty of getting the wire through the hole on top of the planet and being able to tie it. It frequently slipped out of my hand and unthreaded. When I finally got it knotted, it came undone too.I highly recommend triple & qudruple knotting it. Once the length of the plastic wire is as desired, add a couple inches and use that to wrap once and tied around a pen or pencil to create a small loop that can be used to go onto the pin and attach to the ceiling or whatever place you desire to hang it from.I used it to attach to the ceiling of a space theme party and everyone loved them! They added the extra something to take the space party above and beyond! Although there wasn t much glow to them, they still looked great in low light conditions. If you re looking for some serious glow in the dark, I would try another product. 4Here are distance numbers you can use!If you want to geek out and space the planets properly, here are some numbers you can use:Sun to Mercury: 2 cmSun to Venus: 3.925 cmSun to Earth: 5.45 cmSun to Mars: 15.65 cmSun to Jupiter: 27.5 cmSun to Saturn: 52.5 cmSun to Uranus: 105 cmSun to Neptune: 165 cmI took this from a science classroom lesson plan. It did not include Pluto. But with these numbers, Pluto did not fit in the room anyway. I hung it up in a random spot in the next room over. I thought that was funny. The item itself works, especially for the price. The artwork on the planets isn't great, but for the price, I feel like I got what I paid for. 4Looks Amazing, But No SunThis kit looks amazing up and had everything you need to hang it up. I could only give it 4 stars though, because it doesn't include a sun, my son really wishes it had a sun. Other than that it is amazing. The kit came with clear string, sticky tack, and cute clear star shaped push pins to hang up the planets. Also included was name tags for the planets, instructions, and glow in the dark stickers to stick up. The stickers have stars, shooting stars, circles in multiple sizes and some planets. We used the biggest circle to put up next to the earth to make a moon and all the other circles to make the asteroid belt; then dispersed the rest of the stars about. One other issue I had was that Mercury did not have a hook to hang it on the ceiling, so we had to break Pluto then super glue Plutos hook onto Mercury. I'm sure we could have just returned it and got a new one, but it only took 30 seconds and my son didn't want Pluto up anyway. It's been up a couple of months now and nothing has fallen down and look like they did the day we put them up. Would definitely recommend. 4Okay, not perfectIt's pretty much impossible to find a realistic-looking solar system model without buying a $2000 orrery, so I settled for this one. It's all right; planets feel sturdier than I expected, which is good. Sticker stars could be stickier, but most of them are holding for now. My biggest problem is, Neptune is cut WRONG. It comes in two halves, which should have been cut across the equator, with the hook at the top of one of the hemispheres. Instead, they cut it across the middle longitudinally, which means their little blue stripes are running up and down instead of around horizontally. Uranus is the crooked one, guys. And I really don't think this could possibly be Uranus, by the color. Wish it had a sun, too; I understand the idea of using your light fixture as the sun, but not everybody (including us) has a suitable fixture for that. Could be better, but it's good enough that it's not worth the hassle of returning. We'll hang it and the kids will like it. Just wish I could have found a solar system model that didn't look like a cartoon. 3Not really worth $20 in my opinionNot thrilled. From the looks of the pictures on the listing as well as on the box itself, I was expecting the colors to be brighter and for these to be a much better quality. The set I received are really dull, pastel colors with weird paint jobs , and they basically look/feel just like the plastic Easter eggs that snap together (see pics). I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because it at least came with everything you need to hang them, including star shaped tacks. It also said it also came with 230 Glowing adhesive stars, comets, and asteroids (which for some reason I was thinking they would be the little plastic ones that you stick to your walls/ceiling) so FYI, it s a bunch of really tiny glow in the dark stickers (see pic). I was going to return it but unfortunately I really needed this in order to complete my son s surprise bedroom makeover for his birthday, and the package had already been delayed for several days. 2Create your own solar system, then rule it with an iron fistNow I am master of the solar system, Kneel before me in fear or I will pluck the sun from the ceiling. Ok really I purchased these for my daughter to hang up in her room to go with the billions and billions of glow in the dark stars on the ceiling. These are a cool teaching aid or perfect as a decoration. Or if you want to rule the universe this is a good start. . 4My son absolutely loves themMy son absolutely loves them and now sleeps in his room! Decent quality and comes with everything you need to hang them up. You can also label them which I opted not to do since it s not for a school project! The glow is really nice but I couldn t pick up on camera! We charge them every night right before bedtime and they glow beautifully. 4
