    I ve started my Calico collectionI fell in love with these critters when I watched a show and ever since collecting families and play sets for my daughter ( actually for me coz I love them so much) she s still little to play with them at 3 but older children will love it. They are so well made and the dresses are classic and elegant. The dolls are so adorable and cute. Each family comes with a little introduction. The panda and hedgehog families are my favorite. It s great to gift and I bought 2 more for my nieces in India who are big fans of calico critters. Highly recommend. 5Hard plastic toys with flocking and clothesWith so many reviews with high star ratings, I thought I should check these out for my granddaughters. I thought these bears would be soft. They are not. The flocking is soft to the touch, but the plastic is hard underneath. Sort of like a ring box with a VERY short napped velveteen covering.I am not sure how well the flocking will hold up to play or washing. Plastic action figures can survive bath time and dirt play. Plastic action figures can be tossed in the dishwasher in a lingerie bag. Being able to sanitize toys is something I look for in a toy purchase. Granted, not all toys can be tossed in a washing machine or dishwasher. Being able to keep toys clean is a criteria I consider when making a purchase.These are cute. They are small--a nice size to carry around or stuff in a pocket. The small pieces could pose a choking hazard. These look like they could be a Happy Meal prize.For my money, I prefer the Disney Store action figures without the flocking. My sons have original Star Wars plastic action figures that are around 40 years old. No flocking, just plastic. They have stood the test of time and rough play when the boys were small. I would not expect the flocked koala's to survive a lot of rough play.I don't think these are worth the asking price. I do think they would be well received by a child.The set can be broken apart and individual bears could be given as rewards.I will keep this set. I do not plan to buy another. 1Well made, great play value!!!Adorable! I got this set on Amazon for $9.99, more than a 50% savings (I believe the retail price for the set was $25). The detail on the calico critters is amazing! These toys have enormous play value, and many deals & discounts on these products can be found on Amazon. I m looking to build up a calico critters empire so my young nieces & nephews can come over & play with me (at least that s what I m telling myself, these toys take me back to my childhood & even inspire me, as an adult, to play. 5Falling in love with Calico Critters is all in the detail.I was skeptical at first when my then 9 year old daughter told me she wanted these tiny fuzzy little creatures, I thought "another made in china piece of junk toy". But I agreed to buy "Just one", we got home and she started showing me all the detail in the characters, so amazing. Incredible work, and thought into each piece. Side note, love the fact that they noted these are animals they wouldn't be eating a beef burger...it's all veggie :) and this Mom loves that...I am a Vegetarian. Needless to say we are now up to a mansion, 4 families, a nursery, furniture of 4 rooms and still growing. She gave up her Barbie's and Barbie house to have these little creatures and this Mom couldn't be happier. Thank you! 5Panda Perfect!With 4 granddaughters close in age I purchased 4 different sets of Calico Critters. I think they ll enjoy having their own unique set and playing with them in my old playhouse as they all visit this Christmas. Really looking forward to the fun! 5Worn flocking right out of the boxI was disappointed by the circular yellow marks on the back of the toddler and father's heads. It seems to me to be a sign that the flocking won't hold up well (as with the tuxedo cat family we previously purchased). Otherwise extremely cute. 3Adorable!!Gave these to my daughter for her 4th birthday to go along with her other calico critters and the special diy house I made for them. These are the cutest critters we've bought so far!She loves the baby critters so I specifically bought these because it comes with a baby. Actually, I wasn't sure if there were two babies or one baby and a little sister. Turns out there is one baby that comes sitting in a sling on the mother's back, and then there is an older koala sister who is bigger than the babies but smaller than the regular size kids critters. They're all so, so cute!! I wish I had these as a child.Very well made and if you choose to do so you can easily remove their clothes (which are also excellent quality.)The only thing that bugs me slightly is the baby. This is one of the babies that does not stand up. Her legs and arms are permanently stuck in their position. The baby's head is able to turn from side to side but that's it. Not a big deal but I personally prefer the babies who can sit or stand. 5Toys to last a lifetimeWho doesn't love a Calico Critter? These were purchased as a gift for my daughter for Christmas so we haven't played with them yet but they appear to be the same quality as if there were made a few years ago. (I just found one in a box from my childhood and pretty good condition). The clothing is detailed and super cute. Each critter is covered with that "peach fuzz" the Calico Critters are known for. I received the items and they were opened and clearly played with previously. I would return them except my daughter has already decided to play with them herself. 4hands not same as photothe reason i purchased the elephant set is because all the photos show the hands that can hold things. i read a few reviews and no one mentioned this problem, but the hands are flat. 2
