    It barely magnifies 2X, nowhere near the claim of 10X magnificationThey claim that this magnifying glass magnifies 10X (10times). Their claim is not even in the "Ball park" It barely magnifies 2X, see the attached photo. The snapshot was taken at full magnification. The distance between the horizontal lines under the Google logo through the magnifying glass is barely twice the distance without any magnification. Shame on them for selling it as a 10X magnifier. 1too weak to be usefulThis is nowhere near a 10x magnification lens. By my measurements this lens has a power of only five diopters which translates into magnification of only about 1.25x, not worth the effort to try to use it. The description of this lens in this listing is a very serious misrepresentation. 1Cheap. But it works.The only reason I m giving this magnifying glass two stars instead of one is because it functions as it should.I didn t have high expectations given the price, but I was still a bit disappointed. The description states that it has a rosewood handle. The handle is plastic. The whole thing seems to be plastic aside from the glass. It is very cheaply made and the description is deceiving.But it does magnify things properly.Buy it for function, not form. 2Cheap plastic handle. Box is stamped all over "Made in China."I bought this magnifying glass as gift for my husband. When it arrived it was in a cheap box that had 'Made in China' stamped all over it. The box was damaged because of the careless way it was shipped. The "Mahogany" handle is actually cheap looking plastic that is too short for the shaft of the glass so there is a large gap in the bottom. It said the original price was over $50. Ideal lens size, very handsome antique look and has a nice heft to it about (the weight of a DVD remote control), that gives the impression of a much more expensive piece. Looks great in the leather cup on my desk. Contrary to one reviewer, this DOES have a metal frame and the last thing I would call this, is "cheap" looking. The handle is made of a heavy grade plastic and mine has an elegant rosewood design that looks great with the gold-tone metal frame.
