Just Like When I Was A KidI got these for my 9 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas and she just loves them. The carry case is great but they fit snug, almost too snug. I worry about the corners getting caught and ripping the pockets. I bought the Glamor Kit add on to go with it, but there isn't any room to add it inside the carry bag, which totally sucks so I put them in a zipper freezer bag ... LoL ... Whatever works right. Overall this kit is awesome and worth the price as it is exactly the way I remember them from when I was a kid in the 80's. 5Flimsy frame but good old fashioned fun.Good old fashioned fashion plates. Brought me back to my childhood. I gave it three stars because the frame the plates sit in is extremely flimsy. The first one we ordered bent and it was no longer usable. I contacted the company and got a major run around about ordering a new piece. Amazon ended up sending me a whole new set, which was great, but the company could've easily replaced that part and we wouldn't have needed a whole new one. Also, it comes with very little paper. It's still a fun toy and my daughter enjoys playing with it and making new designs. But since the frame is such an important piece it should be made of higher quality materials. It's not durable. 3Five StarsA great remake of the classic fashion plates! Here is a photo for those who want to see what styles are on the plates. 5The fashion plates themselves are really great and my daughter has loved playing with themThe fashion plates themselves are really great and my daughter has loved playing with them. I m so impressed with how many outfits she can choose from! The carrying case is pretty pointless however as all the plates fall out quite easily. Neither the elastic or the mesh net provide any use - especially if even one is missing and the tension isn t as tight. We just put them in our own bag. 4Perfect Road Trip ActivityI bought these for my 10 year old daughter after she expressed interest in fashion design. It was a GREAT investment! She spends HOURS designing clothes and creating patterns, playing with colors, and expressing herself artistically! I reserve use of Fashion Plates for the car BECAUSE it's great for long road trips! The paper stays in place and the carrying kit keeps it all organized. For parents who don't like their kids to be zombied out by electronics, this is a great alternative! My other daughter who is 8, also gets into them (when her sister is in a sharing mood)!! I never had these when I was young, but I always wanted them! I'd say great for creative kids ages 5 & up. 5Great buyI had never heard of this before my niece asked for it for Christmas, so I had no idea what I was getting her. SHE LOVED IT! More than all of her other gifts from everyone else. It is a pretty cool concept for those of you as out of the loop as I was. You can basically create your own coloring book. It traces the outline of the plates you put down and then you can color that in with whatever colors you want. You can also add patters to the cloths and make it more unique. She sat there and played with it for a good hour while all of her other presents sat there neglected (Score one for the uncle). She is 5 if that helps with your decision. 5Great set with a nice carrying caseMy 5 year old daughter loves these! We bought this set along with the Glamour plates as a Christmas gift. I'm really happy that it came with a carrying case to organize all of the small pieces! There was even enough room in the case to fit the glamour plates, as well. The only slightly negative thing is that as you're rubbing the crayon on the paper over the plates, it leaves smudges. It's not a crystal clear outline like photos would suggest. But the smudging isn't terrible, and my 5 year old doesn't care. Overall, this set is great! 5Better quality than another brand I tried from a craft storeWhile this product isn't perfect, it is a lot better than the first fashion plates I bought and returned to a big box craft store. We found that the included paper with these fashion plates can slip around a little, but both my daughter and son were very interested in these fashion plates and wanted to play with them for a long time. Go ahead and order a paper refill with your initial order! You could probably also cut computer paper to size. These fashion plates are one sided as far as the "fashion girls" go. The back sides have patterns. I would buy these again, but don't think it was worth the extra money for the bag. It's hard to put everything away in the elastic bands. A clear, plastic storage container would be easier and cheaper. 4A GREAT TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE!These Fashion Plates were a flashback to my childhood! These were just as remembered them! I purchased these for my two daughters, ages 7 and 6. I was browsing "retro toys" and came across these and instantly knew that I had to share this memory with my daughters. Like a lot of "retro" toys, I was (initially) worried about the quality because it seems like a lot these products that are re-made into current day items lack the quality that made them great to begin with.First of all, it was very easy to change out the plates to make all the different outfits (which are still tacky as ever)! The colored pencils withstood all the shading/coloring from the plates, and haven't broken yet. The carrying case is a major bonus and helps keep everything together, and makes traveling to and fro so much easier. Overall, this product is a GREAT and makes me remember when my childhood was nothing more than trying to outdo my friends and see who could make the best outfit with my Fashion Plates! 5No batteries requiredWhat kid that was born in the early 80s does not remember this toy. I had the original as a child and when I had a little girl of my own I was excited to relive all of these amazing toys with her. When I saw this version come out I was pumped. It looks so much like the one I had as a kid. I decided to get for my 3.5 year old with the intention of me being able to use it as well.It was just as great as I remember it and my 3.5 year old little girl loved it as well which made my heart melt a little. The carrying case is great to bring it to grandma's house or to a dinner. And the best part is....it is one of the only toys you can find these days that does NOT require batteries! It allows for my daughter to use her imagination and we are at the end of the day able to bond with this toy. 5
