    A mixed reviewWe were so excited to get these dinosaurs, my 2 1/2 year old and I. At $23 for 5 dinos, it was a bit of a splurge.PROS: They are big! And bright! And my son loves them. I was really hoping for some bigger dinosaurs, it seems they are hard to find. These fit the bill!They aren't too scary looking for my little kids, but are still pretty realistic.CONS: The smell is out of this world horrible. Usually a little plastic smell doesn't bother me, but this is just awful. You can smell it as soon as you open the box, and when I lifted out the plastic bag they were packaged in, I almost couldn't open it. The smell is toxic, and I am really disappointed. I let them sit out for a while, then washed them with dish soap and water, which seemed to help a bit. What are these things made of???Second is the quality. The seam on the dinosaurs is terrible. In fact, on the triceratops and t-rex, the top and bottom half aren't even lined up correctly. We have better made dinos from the dollar store honestly.However, I'm giving these dinosaurs 3 stars because my son loves them. They are brightly colored without being to cartoonish, and they are really nice and big. Even with the downfalls, I would buy these again. 3products do not contain BPA or any toxins.I sent email to "learning resources" to ask what the material the dinoaurs are made of.I copied the answer below and hope it would be helpful.Thank you for contacting Learning Resources/Educational Insights. You can also read more about our commitment to safety here: [...] 5Very Large and Beautifully Detailed, Don't Like the Seams Showing ThoughMy 6 year old is obsessed with dinosaurs and she loved these as a kindergarten graduation present! I was amazed at how huge these are and they are worth the price for the most part. Each dinosaur (brachiosaurus, T-Rex, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, and Velociraptor) is very detailed and they aren't made of cheap hollow plastic. The coloring on them is beautiful and they are so large that even my 6 month old likes to hold them.She wanted to take them into the tub but I advise against that because each dinosaur has a small hole in it and water would easily get trapped in there and you'd never be able to get it all out. I knocked a star off because I didn't like that on most of the dinosaurs, you can clearly see a seam where it was glued together. I'm just hoping that seam doesn't split over time. The size and detailing alone make them worth the price, but if you have a dinosaur fan, these are the perfect gift! It even comes with a booklet that tells facts about each one. Very cool! 4Nice enough to display, sturdy enough for playMy three year old son loves this set of jumbo dinosaurs, especially the Brachiosaurus which he takes everywhere. He watches the Storybots dinosaur video featuring T-Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus and Velociraptor and acts it out with these dinosaurs. The only dinosaur in the Storybots video that isn't in this set is the Apatosaurus, which is part of the Learning Resources Jumbo Dinosaurs Expanded Set 2, Set of 5 that I plan to buy to add to my son's collection.I am very pleased with the quality, and even my husband remarked that they are very well made and would make good gifts. The dinosaurs are made with a sturdy plastic, but they are hollow inside and have a bit of flexibility. They've held up well to several months of play and should continue to do so. The size is perfect both for displaying on a playroom shelf and for little hands to grab onto.The dinosaurs do have seams around their bodies, but I feel that they blend in well. I also have the Learning Resources Jumbo Farm Animals: Mommas and Babies Toy Set, and the seams on that set are a bit more noticeable.Several reviews mention a bad plastic smell with these, and I don't recall anything out of the ordinary when they were new. They definitely do not smell anymore. However, my son received a couple of other dinosaurs made by a different company that still smell horrible after washing them and airing them out for over a week. Those I want to throw out, but the Learning Resources ones are keepers. 5Not dishwasher safeI ordered these because they were described as dishwasher safe. I know these will be taken outside and unearthed from some dirt pile. Unfortunately, they have holes in the tails and the heads where they were placed on the molds. The instructions say they are not dishwasher safe. This is really disappointing because I selected them based on the description. I wish I would have read the fine print before giving them for Christmas. My 3 year old loves them and I m not returning because he enjoys them so much. In regards to the smell, they did smell. I unwrapped them and let them air out a few days before they were given to my son. 2Love TheseI bought set 1 at another store and loved them so much I had to get this set. They are super soft and easy to tear apart like the cheap squishy toys at Walmart. And they are not that super hard sharp plastic like some dinosaurs. I was very pleased with the size, colors, and comfort for my children to play with as we learn about dinosaurs! 5Formidable dinosaur setI've reviewed many other products by Learning Resources and the quality has yet to disappoint me. I own the original set of dinosaurs, Learning Resources Jumbo Dinosaurs, as well. I call that set, the one with the pronounceable names. I wish the including guide would have a photo next to every description so that you know which one is being discussed.My 2-year-old son is obsessed with these and thanks to them we've had to have many screenings of .The Good Dinosaur Wonderfully, the dinosaurs with legs all stand up just as they do in the photo. They are also really good quality and "lifelike." They feel substantial in your hands but aren't too heavy for a toddler to hold (three of them at a time, of course). I've purchased other dinosaur sets for nieces and nephews, like the cheaper but plentiful Rhode Island Novelty Assorted Jumbo Dinosaurs Up to 6" Long Toy Figures, 12-Pack and the much less plentiful ZipBin 160 Dinosaur Collector Toy Box & Play set w/2 Dinosaurs and wasn't as satisfied with the product.I didn't realize they were dishwasher-safe plastic! The toddler kept demanding to bathe with them and I kept telling him dinosaurs don't swim. I was worried because each dinosaur has a tiny hole at the bottom and I was worried about mold if they got wet. They are a hard plastic, of excellent quality, and are very durable. My sons have been playing with them non-stop and they are using their pretend play skills, as well as cooperating and playing together! They like how they are oversized, it makes them easy for little hands, and different than your average dinosaur toy. We just love these! 5Get your own dinos for next year's diNovember!Last year, we celebrated the month of DiNovember with our kids. Each morning, they would wake up to see what trouble our dinosaur friends had left us. At the end of the month, they disappeared and left a note that they would return. So, this year, we needed them to come back with a vengeance and to be bigger! These dinosaurs were perfect. Fun for any dino loving families. 5Jumbo DinosaursJust received these today and will be sending them to my nephew for his 4th birthday. I'm looking forward to hearing how he likes them since he's big into dinosaurs right now. I wanted to look them over before sending them to him and to air them out a bit because I saw the reviews on the smell. They do have a definite plastic smell right out of the box they come in, but it's really not that bad at all after they sit for a couple of hours. They look pretty cool -- I posted some pictures because I think that always helps and there weren't any close-up photos on here before. 4
