Customer Reviews

Great gag gift!Perfect! I got these to freak out my husband because he HATES those giant palmetto bugs that occasionally sneak in from the trees outside. The ones I got are redder and look much better than the ones in the picture. I put one on the tile kitchen floor as we were leaving for our evening walk before I slipped out the door and was delighted with the result when he saw it when we got back. He snuck up on it and whacked it with a shoe and I am still laughing. He had to admit it was funny and suspected something was up when I was already giggling on the way up the stairs. He has no idea there is another in the shower! 5Excellent to scare people with I'm reviewing the 12 loose plastic cockroaches. They look very realistic, as you can see from my video. If you want to scare someone, this is probably the best way to do it. They look realistic from any angle, even upside down. So, they're also great if you want someone to think it's a dead cockroach.Mine came loose, just in a shipping envelope. So, if you keep these for a while, then you'll need another container for them.Pros:+Very realistic+Great for scaring people+Great for creeping people out+Looks great upside down or rightside upCons:-They'll fool even you-The legs come a little squished 4package not bio weapon, but cockroaches; meant for prank but I hate cockroaches now.tl;dr: package not anthrax, these cockroaches are great replicas. I never cared for them before, but it freaks me out now (prank backfired on me).full version:When I ordered this many moons ago, I almost forgot I ordered it because the sender took his sweet time to send it/it got caught up somewhere in customs/it basically took some time to get to me. It showed up a little later than I anticipated, and I realized it once I saw that it was from a chinese address (customs takes forever). It arrived looking shady as hell in a palm-sized yellow envelope. When I was growing up, I came home to news of people getting sent some powder in their mail. I was very glad not to have been a high profile person who would've received any of those letters. When I received this letter, I took a picture of the little envelope (in case someone had to conduct some post mortem on my body and comb through my entire life on what could be a source of some no name person being on the receiving end of some attack; I also was unsure when one of my YouTube comments on random montages of videogame clips or movie trailers, the latest dating to around 2007 or 2008, could have inflamed someone so much that they would want to kill me in this cruel way) and I proceeded to open it outside.Immediately after I opened it near the mailbox, I realized that, had it been anthax, everyone in the immediately vicinity would've been screwed (it was a windy day). I later realized a glass box and gloves with some complex vacuum system (like in the movie The Rock) would've been a better way to handle it. However, I had a classic first world problem of "well, I don't want to walk 20 meters to exercise precaution and avoid any potentially exciting event that could put some spice in my life". Oh, and screw everyone else's safety. To my surprise, after I opened it, nothing happened. No white powder appeared to emanate from the source. If there was, it must've been smart because it erased my memory of ever having seen it. When I opened it and looked inside, I saw a few nasty and realistic looking cockroaches. This was supposed to be for a prank and I'm still disgusted looking at them. I placed it in my bookshelf and I completely forgot I had them until April of this year. I hid it in my apartment in my various places and freaked out my roommate. When my roommate's family visited, the parents' friends (who were also local) visited everyone. One visitor thought we lived in the dumps/lived like slobs when they saw this on top of a food container. Another visitor screamed when she saw that it was near the cutlery. I guess I went too far because I lost track of how many I used and it's pissing me off because when I moved out, I don't know how many are with me (and where they are). I'm afraid that I'll have guests visit me and inadvertently open some drawer and find this and defecate themselves.Looks: 8.5/10Feel: 10/10Quick glance reaction potential: 10/10Ability to disgust you/compel you to wiki cockroaches, thus creating disgust for them: 10/10Potential to inspire you to not talk about this after you've just ate: 10/10 5Scares them goodThese things are awesome. They look real enough to get that quick scare reaction and are cheap enough I dont care if they get tossed out by someone who cant take a joke. So far my favorite thing to do is scare people at work. Tie a 4 or 6 lb test fishing line(the smallest lb test will be harder to see) to it and plant the roach on a desk or counter behind something. Weave the line around other things so the line follows a path(like an S shape). When you pull the line it will appear as if a roach is running along the edges and around things. Pull the line discreetly and watch people freak out over a little bug on their desk. If you are skilled and creative enough perhaps you can get it run close enough to touch someone and the pokey realistic sensation of its legs on someones skin will get them shrieking and jumping.Other ideas:-tape roach by the antennae to the back of someones pack of cigarettes, they will feel it when they pick it up and toss them evil cigarettes-put in someones bag of chips or box of cereal or crackers-put in someones shoe or jacket pocket-put a small piece of tape on the belly and discreetly apply it to the back of someones arm-tape one to your back and walk around, see if people tell you its there, laugh, get scared, or whisper to each other about it while not telling you its there (this is how you find your true friends and weed out the fakes)-put it in the coffee makers filter so whoever is making the first batch of coffee gets a wake up jolt before they get their coffeeLots of creative ways to prank someone. If I am successful with more pranks I'll update. 5These things look a little TOO real! These things look A LOT like real cockroaches! So much so that I put them in my beach bag because I was intending on playing a joke on a friend I was planning a weekend at the coast with. But, as luck would have it, our plans fell through and the fake roaches wound up sitting in the bottom of one of the pockets of my beach bag for weeks and I totally forgot they were in there. Then, one day I found myself heading for the ocean on the spur of the moment, so I threw a few things in the trusty ol' beach bag and hit the road. An hour and 3 picked up passengers later, someone asks if anyone has a lighter, and I say "I think there's one in the front left pocket of my beach bag...." and both people in the back seat nearly wet themselves when the one who needed a lighter reached in there and came out with a handful of VERY realistic-looking plastic cockroaches in addition to the Bic she was hunting for, and I nearly total my car when she flung them into the front seat. There was much screaming and swearing and all 3 of them were mad at me when I confessed that I put the roaches in that bag on purpose and NO ONE believed me when I said I'd simply forgotten they were in there.Whether they are real or fake or live or dead, don't throw roaches at the driver of a car that you are a passenger in when that driver is doing 75mph down I-5 and not expecting anyone to scream and fling roaches at her. DO NOT THROW ROACHES!!! 5Depends on who you buy them from!I bought these roaches from an American seller first simply because I wanted them faster. They were nothing like in the picture. They looked like plastic bugs and nobody in their right mind would mistake them for the real thing. The seller's excuse was that that's what they received from the manufacturer. It is my impression that some sellers get lazy and instead of creating a new listing for their product they simply list under an existing listing with a high rating. So, I got a refund from that seller (with some trouble). Next I ordered a set from China. Those took a long time to arrive but they look exactly like in the picture. The bottom line is: 1 star for the "American" roaches and 5 starts for the "Chinese". 3Makes the holidays more interestingYou will need the following supplies.(12) fake cockroaches(1) video recording device(several) gullible relatives who you don't mind offending. The stage was Christmas 2013 at the in-laws home. Decorations adorned the freshly remodeled kitchen area. I stashed a couple of these inside my pants pocket and proceeded to compliment all the delicious food on the kitchen island. I placed these in and around the food, paying close attention to dishes that showed signs of special preparation. When my relatives noticed the roaches, hilarity ensued. Screams of "ohh dear God" and "Lord Jesus we've got roaches" rang out from the area as blood pressure and heart rates increased. After several minutes of watching the action I stepped in and came clean. It was a good laugh had by all in the end, but I will be celebrating Christmas alone next year as I've been disowned by the family. 5Best 3.99 I've ever spent.I have had a blast with these. They look very realistic.Today my supervisor placed one on the floor outside the door of our government lead's office. Another lady was leaving and stopped, asking, "What is that... is that a bug!?"I helpfully walk over and say, "Nah, it's just one of these." and hold one in the palm of my hand. Now, I wasn't trying to scare her. I was just trying to show her what it was. But she screamed so loud people on the other side of our rather large building, who were behind closed security doors, heard the scream. And, while screaming, ran away from me and the plastic roach I was holding and to the doorway, where she stood, breathing hard and shaking.A few days ago I scared a waitress friend with 1 then gave it to her so she could scare her coworkers. (I'm a giving person...) I see her a few days later and she's mad at me because she had put that roach in her apron pocket and kept forgetting about it, pulling out candy to give customers and the roach would be mixed in with it all and she'd see it, scream and throw it and the candy across the floor... She did this to herself 4 times.I placed one on the coffee in a cupboard so it was partially in the shadows. A good friend comes in, goes to get some coffee, picks up the roach, shakes her hand violently because it felt 'weird', it falls in the floor at her feet, and she made a funny sound and jumped away from it. She recovered quickly and beat me until her arm got tired but it was worth it...I heartily recommend them. 5Mixed bag (no pun intended)It's hard to believe I'm rating/reviewing a bag of novelty fake cockroaches, but here it goes...In general, these things are hysterical. They are virtually guaranteed to freak out anyone who is surprised by them. The bag is generous in quantity (you get a lot of roaches for the price) and the price is great.I only have two problems with these roaches. First, there are many of them which were molded slightly off. It's hard to describe, but I'd say some of the legs are not correctly shaped or angled so many of the roaches lie on their belly and the legs are sort of floating in air, not touching the ground. Also, some of the antenna are not shaped right, so you loose some of the realism. Second, the roaches are made of a jelly-like material which is good in one sense (the color is pefect) but bad in another sense (if you're close when you first see them, you can see that the roach is made entirely of one material so they look fake).Overall, this is a good deal and I'd recommend that anyone looking to scare the bejesus out of someone else pick up a bag. I would further recommend that you pick a couple of the best roaches from the bag (properly shaped), and then place them carefully in a location where they look most realistic and where the person being scared will be surprised (e.g. in a drawer, kitchen cabinet, pulling back the curtain in the shower, etc). 3Great for pranks!!!April Fools prank #1I cut a small hole in the bottom of a bag of chips of my coworker, I gently put the roach into the bag and taped it shut as discreetly I could. At lunch she opened the bag and dumped the chips into a bowl, along with the chips out slides out a roach. Yes, her reaction was priceless!April Fools prank #2Double sided tape, stuck the roach on the wall next to the light switch into my brother's bathroom. That night I got an angry text from him saying that he came home late after work exhausted and had to hold his pee for additional 15 minutes as he looked for a shoe to squish the rubber roach with... His bladder was in pain for a while, but at least I got a good laugh. :)Tip! These look even more realistic when you stick them on the wall with double sided tape someplace poorly lit. 5
