this really was quite difficult to breakLet's be clear: the plastic of which this thing is made resists damage very obstinately. It took a long time (fully two minutes? I was going cautiously) for me and my claw hammer to even breach the outer shell of this juggernaut, and even then it ended up taking twenty minutes more to actually get inside it, look the contents over, and figure out how to get the little plastic icosahedron (20-sided die, basically), the little treasure with all the fortunes on it, out of the separate container of blue fluid.Needless to say, everyone in the dorm who witnessed my steady progress was impressed beyond measure. In any case I am now the controller of my own fortune, if not also the entirety space-time itself (who's to say?). One warning, however: the blue fluid inside the inner sanctum does not seem to stain bathtubs or sinks or any kind of porcelain, but it will absolutely stain skin. Not for long, but it doesn't all scrub off.Long story short, if you're worried about casual drops, don't be. This thing will get scuffed as hell, but it will protect its precious cargo. And don't worry about karmic backlash, either--my particular 8 Ball, at least, which was purchased for this purpose, actively encouraged and guided me ("Should I hit it right on the 8 here?" - "YES, DEFINITELY") as I violently forced open a passage to the destiny-nugget at its core. 5They sure don't make things like the used.We were hoping for a feeling of nostalgia after our purchase but this was a HUGE disappointment. 90% of the time the answer cube is in a position with nothing written on it. And the few times it is in the correct position, it isn't readable. If it's not readable what's the point of owning it? If you're looking for one like the ones from over 50 years ago, this one is nothing like it, it's made from two pieces of, light, cheap plastic that are sealed together with the seam showing, right in the center of the ball, not as I remember the old 8 ball. Now I see why they don't offer refunds -- so you may want to keep that in mind before ordering. 1Thick inky-black liquid is an impediment to clarityMy many-years-old Magic 8 Ball had to be retired when the liquid inside got so bubbly and cloudy that we couldn't read the answers any more. Thought I was buying an exact replacement when I chose this legit Mattel product, but I was disasspointed. The liquid in this ball is pitch-black and seems thick; the answer is obscured half the time, as the floating piece struggles to come completely to the surface of the liquid. With enough effort we can usually decipher the response, but repeatedly turning and maneuvering the ball shouldn't be a necessary part of the "magic" process. 3My 8 Ball was perfect. Much better results than when I was guessing. 5No Magic with this Eight Ball.Broken. Doesn't work. Product appeared to have been opened. Wrapping secured with scotch tape. Tabs on box had small tears. Quality of the eight ball itself felt weak, poorly constructed. The answer disk always appear on a corner, as such it was unreadable. I opted for this brand because I thought the quality would be better if I spent a little more then the ten dollar average. I was wrong. 1Helps make life altering decisions easy!Very accurate...
