This is a fantastic game! Just the right combination of luck and ...This is a fantastic game! Just the right combination of luck and skill so that everyone can play. I bought this game so that my son could practice his math facts in a fun way. It's turned into a family favorite, even my 18 yo likes to play. The game includes a board with all the numbers between 0 and 101 in a spiral. The goal of the game is to land your piece on the 101 spot. You get there by rolling dice and using math to chose how many spaces to move. The basic strategy becomes clear very quickly for new players. The board itself is beautifully designed and the pretty colors aren't just pretty colors, they are coded to indicate multiplication factors. There is a metaphor here about women and their pretty little heads, but I can't quite pull it together. :)The game moves quickly, adding and subtracting is easily supported by counting circles and there is a multiplication table included that uses the same fantastic color-coding as the board for anyone who needs a little help with multiplication and division. Game variations are also included in the instructions, like faster game play using one token per player.Really, all-around this is an excellent game. My only criticism, and it is so minor I did not take any stars off for it, is the dice. Instead of a 10, they have a 0 and we find that we often forget this fact. And the shape of the dice is a little wobbly so sometimes we lose the numbers for the roll. 5Exceeded expectations!Got this midway through the holidays, with high hopes but low expectations - my daughter particularly is not crash hot on math or board games.Received it, looked at the board and read through the instructions thinking "huh, seems a bit complicated". Heart sunk even lower when daughter starts playing and goes "Hey! It's a MATHS GAME!!!" Uh oh, sprung.Turns out all she wanted was to go get some paper for workings. It's easy once you start. We played it all that evening and ended up missing our movie night. And have played it every day for the 4 days since then. Son is basically obsessed, and daughter is quietly joining in each game too. I'm really enjoying it as well. It's a shame the school holidays are ending, we are really loving this game! 5Best game we ownI love love love this game. I'm a homeschooling mom, and this is like my ideal game. Players have to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to get their pawns to the winner's circle (#101). It comes with a simple multiplication chart that allows even my 7-year-old to play effectively with very little assistance. I personally find this game so much fun that I will play it all by myself, as a challenge to see how many turns it takes me to get to the center and back out to the start. Granted, I have a mathematical mind by nature, but I think this may be the best game we own (and that's saying something because we have 50+ games). 5Loved by lots of agesThis is a fun, colorful game that has lots of learning opportunities and strategy involved. I bought this for my math classes. I teach accelerated 1st-4th graders. They are typically 1 grade level ahead in their math curriculum. So far I have introduced it to 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade students. Everyone has loved it and they beg to play! I also introduced it to an entire 4th grade classroom and that teacher has now ordered it since multiples and factors are concepts her kids need to practice a lot. Some of those kids got a little bored waiting for their turn, but they loved how the game could be very unpredictable due to "bumping" pawns back to zero and the excitement of the Prime cards. The game is most interesting when kids are able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, but it is still fun with kids that mostly add or subtract. 5I think it is a great game and I rate it 5 starsI think it is a great game and I rate it 5 stars. I got it for Christmas this year. It is a really fun game and that everyone should have it.The above from our 11 yr old who loved it. My husband accurately describes it as Trouble (the game with the popper dice rolling) with an education. One reviewer commented that, once past the halfway point on the board, one could only use addition to plod to the finish. We use the subtraction option to move our pawns backward into the first half of the board, waiting for a chance to use multiplication to jet propel ourselves close to the finish. Our 9 and 7 year old were less intensely interested and found it more difficult, but still doable... especially after we told them that the actual time they spent on their turns could be applied to their school math practice homework. They do, however, enjoy playing with support. It's an excellent game.Update: This is now our favorite family game! The now 10 yr old and almost 8 year old are getting the hang of it and enjoying it. A great investment and I love the fact that it's a small business. They have a great webpage with links to math games and curricula. Can't rate this highly enough! 5We never got into thisI got this game hoping it would be fun for those in the family who are math whizzes as well as for those who struggle. I visualized playing it at say, a family reunion with people from 4 to 95. I like how certain math concepts are shown visually. (Even had a few AHA! moments, just looking at the board) I'm writing this review long after the last time we played, but basically we tried playing this twice and were so bogged down in trying to get going that we gave up. I recall that the instructions were very confusing (as others have said), but aside from that, certain specifics seemed to be missing, so there were ambiguities is how to proceed. My husband, a scientist who is a believer (math is the language of the universe!), agreed that the instructions were incomprehensible. Also, getting to the end of this game and "winning" doesn't seem terribly exciting. Maybe we were missing something key? I see all the great reviews and I think we must have missed something! 1A Painless Way to Master your MathI admit that I don't frequently buy $30 games - or at least when I do they're the big, geeky kind that support 6 players and take an hour to play. But I'm glad I did splurge on this one. My 9 year old boy (relatively advanced in math) have played it half a dozen times since we got it a few days ago. He's been more than willing to do so - especially as I've given him a break from "real" math (we homeschool.)The rules are very simple; at first it looks like no more than a small twist on "Aggravation" or "Sorry." But it's much more: you really Will need to add, subtract, multiply and divide to make best use of your rolls, and it's really great painless practice to get those arithmetic facts to become second nature, the way we need them to be for true mastery. The beautiful board and playing pieces are nice bonus. All in all, a great use of both educational and "fun" budget. 5Fun family game that gets the math going, although a little simplisticGets the kids doing math...super fun! Although there rarely seems to be any reason to divide or subtract (well, subtraction maybe for bumping other players... But rarely ever division...) so it is fun they added the card to use against an opponent to force them to only subtract or divide. Other than that it is multiplication or addition. Near the end of the spiral only addition because you cannot go over 101...so you can't multiply past 50.I wish there were some other elements to the game that would make division and multiplication more involved. Such as certain numbers on the board that are special spots for extra cards or points or something...so then it would be an important accomplishment to get to it...or perhaps the board went beyond 101 to 500 or something. I don't know...I'm not a math person! It just seems rather simple once you get the hang of it.But, once you know how to play there are variable strategies that may help or may hinder...depending on the rolls of the dice...that's part of the fun! Stay below 25...stay below 50 til a double roll...etc. 5It's a reasonably entertaining game. I played with my ...It's a reasonably entertaining game. I played with my son (9) and he beat me two out of three times. I played with a few other engineers and we each managed to win one. It is well balanced, and the cards are an added element of strategy. 4If you like Math games, you'll want to own Prime ClimbWe just received the Prime Climb math game the other day and really enjoy it. One of the kids, who is less interested in math than our other, was doing multiplication, addition, subtraction, and division without tension or help. The game is enjoyable. My kid that isn't terribly excited about math or games for that matter was super excited to play the following day. This excitement has only happened with a couple of other board games (Cover your assets and Sleeping Queens). If your family likes math games like ours, I definitely recommend the game.We used to live in Seattle and have done math salons, a camp and had private tutoring with some of Math for Love (game creators) folks. They are well loved in the in Seattle and by me for showing me how exciting and fun math can be for kids. I'm happy to see this great team find success with Prime Climb - it's really fantastic.Note: In the picture I added, there's a piece that doesn't belong to the game. My son likes make up his own pawns (lego men, electronics parts). Just didn't want anyone to wonder why there game didn't include a Fremont Distillery Poker Chip. :) 5
