    Cute With IssuesAlthough this is very cute, I, too, had a problem with the back seam splitting open within 8 hours of opening up the package. Very disappointing. And as stated by others, it is relatively small for the amount of money paid. I don't have a problem as I will sew it up but for the money, I shouldn't have to. 2We love Pete the Cat!Pete is big enough for my 2 1/2-year-old and 1 year-old to cuddle. Their faces light up when they see him. One of our Petes fell into a puddle (Oh no! Pete stepped in a large puddle of mud!). The directions say "surface wash only" but I put him through our front-loading washing machine and he came out good as new. Very pleased. 5This Pete not what it seemsThis plush is not 14 1/2 tall, ours measured 12 1/4 , see photo. I m sending this back without removing it from the plastic!Other reviewers have mentioned this discrepancy so I hope something changes. The seller needs to be more accurate in description, no more bait and switch. So sorry, but this seems like some smaller, cheaper version. 1A must-have companion with the book!A phenomenon! Indeed, Eric Litwin (the author) and James Dean (the artist) have created a phenomenon with both their book (Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes and the stuffed animal that makes a must-have companion.If you have two (or more) children/grandchildren, go ahead and get two (or more) Pete the Cats. They will not want to take turns holding him as you read this wonderful, whimsical book to them. The price is well worth the prevention of sibling arguments that will surely ensue if each one cannot hold Pete while you read the story. Besides, they will entertain you with Pete's song and story for a good while. I can guarantee that!I bought only one (!) for my school library (I'm the librarian), just received him, and have not yet introduced him to the PK4 class that absolutely LOVES the story and song. It (the book) is the most amazing phenomenon I've seen in my six years as elementary level librarian. I'll amend the review after I see their reaction to the stuffed animal! I also must add that I bought two more books so that three children can take Pete home. I'm thinking I might let them "check-out" Pete the stuffed animal as well.Pete the Cat is labeled as "plush," but it's not plush in the manner of a traditonally fuzzy, soft-fur, stuffed animal. He is soft but fairly firm and 14.5 inches high. The product information indicates Pete is suitable for ages three and up. I imagine that is because of the dangly legs, tail, and arms.Sssssh--I'll close with a little secret--even I, an aging Baby Boomer, love Pete the Cat, both book and stuffed animal! 5This one is a no brainerSo, we went to Barnes and Noble to look at study books for myself. My daughter saw a Peet the Cat plush there. She wanted it soooooo bad. She had an epic meltdown. I really was going to buy it, but then I saw the price tag. $35-NO WAY! So I promised her we could order it here, and she stopped crying. She would check the mail with me everyday until it arrived. For a fraction of the cost the quality of the stitches is exact, the plushiness and the same vibrant colors that Pete flexes all in his books. 5Wonky looking neckless cat.This is the wonkiest looking Pete The Cat ever. He doesn't have a neck and his limbs are not proportioned properly to his torso or head. Thank goodness my 2 year old doesn't care too much. He sees blue cat and immediatly associates it with Pete. But dang... I am disappointed. He is just so off looking. The up side is he seems to be decently made. He is very rigid and stiff. Of course his whiskers fell off his face almost immediatly out of the package. Edited to add photos because I also realized his heart is placed under his armpit. What is that about? And I didn't want anyone to think I was exaggerating how wonky this cat is. He's just sitting in my sons Adirondack chair staring at me with his head/neck and his bowed legs. 1... He looked like his seam in the back was coming apart too. I couldn t return him because my daughter had already seen him and would have lost her mind had I taken him away, so I had to sew the bad seams on a BRAND NEW TOY. He s a cut toy and the perfect size for a 2 year old girl to cuddle and read to, but I absolutely should not have had to do any sort of sewing repair when he was just taken out of the box. I question how he ll hold up over time. Not sure that I would purchase this little guy again 2This is one of the single best purchases I've made for my toddlerThis is one of the single best purchases I've made for my toddler. She *loves* the Pete the Cat books, and was absolutely THRILLED that she could hold Pete the Cat while READING Pete the Cat. It's a relatively small plush, but perfect for our 20-month old (who's in the 99%-ile for weight and height), and she carries him around EVERYWHERE. If Pete's not in her IMMEDIATE vicinity, she calls "Pete! Pete!" And wanders around the house looking for him. She sleeps with him every night, and if we don't watch her, she takes him to daycare (and then cries half the morning when he has to be put up in her cubby).More importantly, the plush is soft and well made. Lots of folks recommend spot washing him, but because of a few mishaps, Pete's already had to take a full-bath in the washing machine 3 times. He's held up great. No pilling, he hasn't fallen apart, no holes, the colors haven't faded or bled, etc. Although Pete wasn't the "big" gift we got her for Christmas, he was absolutely her favorite. 5DO NOT BUY THIS! Not as pictured.This is not the Pete the Cat pictured by the seller. It is an off-brand from China. EXACTLY what the text in this ad claims to watch out for. DO NOT BUY THIS PLUSH TOY! Some of the reviews show the real plush, but I wonder if those are fake reviews. My son LOVES the real version of this plush that we bought at a book store. We wanted more to hide away for the time when his gives out. This version has cheap fabric, and it doesn't even look like Pete. I am sure this is unlicensed and the tag looks like it was printed on a home printer. This is bait and switch.I will change my review for a full refund INCLUDING shipping. 1Love it! This is the genuine articleLove it! This is the genuine article!! Don't be fooled by knock-Off Pete's! Before getting this doll I ordered one from what I thought was a legit company and it came from CHINA - the stitching was ripped and there was no TAG. If the shipping is estimated to take over a week or 2 - you KNOW it is coming from China where they do not have safety regulations and could be dangerous for kids. When I ordered this one as a replacement I saw the difference. This one is GREAT - with the tags and all. I highly recommend, it is super cute and cuddly. 5
