    Essential. Avoids early-onset Track Frustration Sydrome (TFS)The recently defined Track Frustration Syndrome [TFS] (See the DSM-IV for diagnostic criteria) is directly linked to wooden train track construction, particularly among middle class professionals who also exhibit Amazon Review Reading tendencies (also defined in the DSM-IV). Longitudinal analysis suggests a strong enough correlation that intervention strategies are necessary for remediation.In one study (Hunter et al, 2014), subjects were given one administration of the Wooden Track Adapter intervention. Immediately upon receiving the intervention, subjects demonstrated significantly lower TFS than the control. This is also linked to lower TTS (Track Throwing Syndrome) among 2-5 year old subjects.In conclusion, buy this to avoid swearing in front of the children. 5Small problem was quickly fixed by manufacturer.I bought these for my nephew. I was happy to find them, as there were many times where I noticed two female ends of tracks coming together (I've never noticed two male ends, but it is nice to have the connection option if it does happen).When they arrived, one of the pieces was chipped in a way that the groove that the wheels are in created a divot in the track. While this wasn't a huge problem, my sister sent an email to Orbrium, who promptly corrected the issue. I am very impressed with this, and makes me very likely to buy more of their products. 5Helpful Addition to a Toddler's Approach to Brio TrainsHappy to report, these things have helped us out of a jam or two. My daughter loves her Brio Trains, but being two and all....she just builds her track however she wants. Oftentimes she'll get to the point where she is all ready to connect the final piece, only to find that the use of her bridge or track-splitter have left her building backwards. These small pieces help us avoid "baby-builder frustration" ... and sometimes "parental-builder frustration" as well.Quality-wise, I would say they do the job, but the craftsmanship is not quite up to the same standard as track that comes with Brio. If you are a serious Brio Collector....probably want to look elsewhere. But for us (two parents with a toddler), these were perfect. 4Not great. They mostly serve their purpose1 of them is so warped I actually damaged a piece of my good track before I realized it. I was able to get the track together in spite of splitters that all split the same direction and a bridge that reverses the direction of the track, but they have an awkward fit at best, aren't flipable like the rest of my tracks, and the lengths throw off the evenness of the design. They serve their purpose, but I wouldn't recommend them. 3Excellent product to make kids trains easierI found thesr to be a great addition to a train set. It allows our child to not have to have the perfect setup when trying to assemble the trains. He's only 3 years old so we help him but even then he would get frustrated if he was trying to assemble them himself and he didn't have pieces that matched. These allow him to match pieces much easier. They work with train sets that we've gotten off of Amazon non-brand name. 5One-sided but otherwise greatThese things are a little life-saver for larger track set ups, particularly if you are doing anything with switch tracks or if you have a mishmash of different track types and things get turned around. The Thomas Adapt-a-Track are a bit more flexible because you can make either side male or female (so m/m, m/f, f/m, f/f), but you get two of those for only slightly more than eight of these. These work well and seem well-built, though it's a bit annoying that they only have track on one side. Still, for the price, I can't complain too loudly. 4Absolutely indispensableThese are absolutely necessary if you are building super-duper awesome train tracks from something like four or five different brands of tracks.At some point you will be just about finished...all that is left is that one last piece and...oh s*$#...I need a male-male/female-female piece...it's not going to work...we have to reconfigure the whole thing...These were purchased after one such moment and they have been indispensable ever since. 5Fits Brio tracks as well as generics.Was looking for reasonably- priced connectors for my 5 year old grandson's train set which has original Brio tracks and newer generic tracks. These Orbrium connectors fit pretty well, although not perfectly, causing motorized engines to sometimes get stuck. But the male and female pieces are really handy to have, as are the orange plastic adaptors, which adapt disparate tracks to fit together. My grandson also uses the adaptors as " buffers" ( bumpers) at the end of train lines. Overall, we are satisfied. 4A "must have". Make that a "MUST HAVE".THIS IS A MUST HAVE! The more elaborate your track lay-out, the more likely it is that you are going to find yourself faced with the necessity of connecting either two male ends together or two female ends together - a problem which not even SCOTUS can resolve, at least when we're talking about toy train tracks... Unless you have access to these "double ended" pieces, the end result is tears and frustration (your choice whether the kid is crying and you are frustrated or vice-versa). Save yourself the grief and buy a couple of these sets to supplement your supply of track (and they are so artfully designed that you can always use them simply to extend your trackway, even if you don't need to overcome the mismatched end issue). These pieces are made to the same high quality standard as the Obrium trackway (also reviewed), which is to say that the pieces are well formed and well fitted, they are sanded smooth, and are nicely and attractively coated with some clear finish, making it likely that they will outlast your child's interest in toy train tracks (if not your own interest in them - c'mon, admit it, you play with this stuff too). The multiple piece track sets which Obrium sells do NOT contain any of these specialty connectors, so just make a habit of adding at least one of these sets to any other track purchases. And, just like Obrium's regular track pieces, these are fully compatible with the "Thomas" and "Chuggington" (and similar) systems. 5Perfect for joining track (Brio / Thomas/Imaginarium tracks)We bought these along with the bulk 100 piece wooden track set. These adapters are pretty necessary and the name brands may give you one or two in their packs, but then you have to buy a whole other pack of track to get more or pay a bunch of money for just a couple. This was a great buy. Great addition to train set. My son has been a HUGE fan of Thomas the Tank Engine for years. He has built up a large collection of track. However, he often needs to join unmatched pieces of track i.e. male-to-male or female-to-female. That's where these pieces come in - and they do the job perfectly. The track is nicely finished (no splinters in little hands) and perfect for what it does. Would recommend to buy it again. The set gives me all the connectors. For some reason the one solid ends are used more than the ones with holes. These track pieces have made it possible to do lots of different layouts, especially for little guys who want to play on their own but would otherwise have trouble getting the track all going in the same direction to hook together. 4
