Customer Reviews

One man's trash is this woman's treasure!I bought these *because* of the negative reviews that warned of the small size, the light weight, the irregular shape, and unevenly applied paint/finish of the pieces. I plan to use them for fortune-telling so all of these "flaws" make them perfect for me! 4Perfectly fine! After reading some reviews I was hesitant to order this particular domino set, but I'm glad I did. I don't see any problem at all with the weight or size of this set in any way. We bought it for a game to play with grandkids and it will be perfect! Totally satisfied and definitely recommend. 5Not goodThis product is of extremely poor quality. The wood is flimsy and is poorly crafted. Don't waste your money. Also, they don't state their return policy so if you buy it, you may end up being stuck with it. When I tried to return it, it said that this product was not eligible for returns. Had I known that before ordering, I never would have bought it. 1Good for my purposesI purchased these dominoes as a prop. For my purposes they will work. I noticed several negative reviews which did make me hesitant to buy, but I decided that for $3 it was worth the risk. Whether you want to buy these will depend on what you want to use them for.Details:Size: Quite small, ~1.5" x 1" (they are slightly larger than this on both sides, but I don't remember the exact quarter/eighth amounts)Color: for all reasonable purposes, black. This is all right for me, though I would have preferred if the dominoes were the color pictured.Material: It might be wood? through the black paint/stain you can see what looks like wood grain, but they don't Feel like wood. Maybe that is just due to the paint (or what ever they used)?Quality: despite being small not quite as I pictured them these feel like they will be sturdy dominoes. I set them up and they all balanced fine and made a typical domino chain. They do have a quieter sound when falling, which is nice.Back: The back does have the pressman logo on it, so if you want a blank back these aren't for you.Overall: I like them. They aren't as perfect as I would like, but they are $3. If I wanted super nice ones I would have gone for the other wooden domino set that costs $30. I posted some pictures so you can get a better idea of what these dominoes are like. 4Decent Cheap DominoIt's solid but clearly cheap. The price is great for the product though, just don't expect a $20 set. Paint is not as bright as higher quality, a little smaller, but still durable and usable 4I would be embarrassed to donate them for a Christmas Toy DriveI read the bad reviews and was skeptical. I purchased two boxes for a Christmas Toy Drive. Very very disappointing, I would be embarrassed to donate these the quality is so poor. AND now I am being told that I cannot return them!!They are wafer thin ( like those vanilla wafer cookies) and are made of pressboard. ( Pressman is the brand name)I don t have a stove or fireplace to burn them in and I live in Florida so it wouldn t help anyway with heat for the winter (LOL)I did email Amazon about not being able to return them so maybe there is hope.Bottom line they aren t worth a dollar at the dollar store. 1They measure 1.72" x .86" x .23" Good dominos - great for the priceActual dimensions are 1.72" x .86" x .23", which is very slightly below (about 1/32 of an inch smaller) than1 3/4 x 7/8 x 1/4. These are the only wooden dominos I've seen except for a set my parents have had since the 1970s. Comparing these to those, the '70s set seem a little bit better, as my parents' are made from harder and heavier wood (almost feel like metal), with more defined engraving on both the front and back, and more clearly painted dots. This Pressman set is more what I would expect a wooden domino to look like if I had never seen "really good ones" before. And both sets are about the same size, which puts them in a tie for the smallest dominos I've ever used. And if you want lightweight, these are very light. The cardboard box is oversized (4" x 6" x 1 5/8") - the dominos just rattle around in it loosely, which detracts from them being well suited for traveling. You could pack the dominos neatly stacked into a box that is 3 1/2" x 1 3/4" x 1 1/4". If you made a box like that, this would be an awesome travel set or even a pocket-sized set, which is what I intend to do. They're nice. And they are consistent enough that I don't expect to be able to recognize specific dominos from the back unless I were to specifically try to learn that. I feel nostalgic about them already and am very happy I bought them. 5Poor QualityNot what I expected. I threw them away in the trash. Wanted to teach my grandkids how to play dominos. 1Smaller SizeThese dominoes are smaller, measuring 7/8 in. W x 1 3/4 in. L, and slightly thinner. The set that I got does not have the 'Pressman' logo on the back side, as other reviews show. They only have a criss-cross pattern on the back. The box is small and compact, but the dominoes still slide around loosely inside. For the price, I am satisfied with the product I received. 3These are NOT large! The are super tiny and not for adults - spend the extra money and by the professional size. Also, you cannot return them so DO NOT BUY! 1
