Customer Reviews

EasyI was cautious about ordering this. I had never glued puzzles before. I did a lot of research about this and other products before ordering. I really wanted to save the butterfly puzzle and hang it up, so I tried this as it looked pretty simple. It was very simple! You have to make sure to rinse the sponge after each use. She. You are doing the front, it's hard to see where you have done already. However, there is a wet looking glisten to watch for. Once you get the hang of it, it's extremely easy.It works great! Even on my son's Angry Bird puzzles which are really thick. I wasn't sure it would work on them, but it did.I will keep this on hand for all our puzzles!I recommend this to anyone. Especially with kids, it's so easy they can do it. Please supervise them though. 5Ugly final product and difficult to mix and applyI bought this and Masterpiece Puzzle Glue. The Ravensburg glue is very difficult to mix up properly in the bottle. Like several others have said, it was like it was old or something. I even poured the bottle out into a bowl and used a fork to break apart the glue clumps and mix it up properly.Once back in the bottle, the product is slow to dispence and comes out foamy in an effort to assist you with where the glue has been applied. Instead you fight trying to "smooth" the foam a way and get rid of the bubbles. The glue dries relatively clear, but you see brush strokes and foam bubbles in the final product.Fortunately I applied the glue to a test strip first before applying to the whole puzzle.Loyal customers of this product probably haven't tried Masterpiece and did a side by side comparison. The MP glue is far supieror in ease of application and clarity of dried glue.I ended up using the Ravensburg glue on the back of two puzzles. We love Ravensburg puzzles, but their glue is terrible compared to other brands. 1GreatThis is easy to apply without mess. I set out to finalize a 5k puzzle and after 2 coats the pieces were more or less perfect. I used two tri-fold displayboards vertically set to the back with a coat of gorilla glue as the conserver wasn't sufficient (didn't expect it to be as that's not what it's intended for). Afterwards I made a simple frame to finalize but skipped any glass as the cost is not worth it to me. Will repeat this process on this other 5k I haven't finished. 4Awesome!This puzzle glue is very easy to use. Works great. I put on one coat, let it dry for an hour and then put one more more coat to cover places I missed and let it dry. Dries clear and smooth. Just make sure you smooth out all the foamy bubbles by going over it with the sponge applicator. I was able to pick up the puzzle by one end and carry it to another room. Very pleased. 5Easy to apply & strong enough to frame puzzleI love that the bottle has a foam applicator that makes the gluing process a breeze. The glue is a faint white, but turns clear by the time it is dry. I recommend applying 2-3 coats, depending on the size of the puzzle. I had to apply three coats to a 1000 piece Ravensburger, but this was primarily because the first couple of times I didn't really squeeze out enough glue -- it really works best if applied generously (you obviously don't want to SOAK the puzzle, but simply running the bottle back and forth without squeezing the bottle much will likely be insufficient). And like other reviewers said, be sure to place something underneath the puzzle (I slipped in some wax paper) and to also rinse the foam applicator with water after each coat application. As to the end result, the puzzle was glued strongly enough to be transferred to a frame (I used a 32 x 24 frame made by ArtToFrames, along with their 32 x 24 mat, which has an opening approximately equal to the puzzle's dimsensions). There were a couple pieces that I had to push in after the transfer. Since the frame has a glass front, I am not worried about the puzzle falling apart. I wouldn't trust the puzzle to hold together without proper framing, though. I guess there may be stronger glues out there, but I really wanted something gentle and neat for my puzzles. This glue fulfilled that need. 4I am amazed this worked! The instructions say to lay the puzzle out, completed. Then put a coating of this glue stuff over the picture. I did exactly as I was instructed and it worked! I believe the glue works by putting a clear coat of epoxy over the picture, joining the pieces with glue in the cracks. Make sure you are getting glue in the puzzle cracks; I think that is where the epoxy is most needed.I had to go over a couple of spots I missed the first time because when the glue goes on, it really is kind of clear. It dries absolutely clear, but while wet it has a little bit of a white opacity. Because it only takes a reasonably thin layer to do the trick, I missed a couple of spots and had to redo those areas. 5Worked Like a CharmMy friends & I worked on this jigsaw puzzle (based on a painting of the some martial tableau in Napoleonic times) for weeks. Whenever someone would come visit, we'd spend a few minutes putting a few pieces together (it was a 500-piece puzzle that I found on the street and surprisingly difficult). When we finally finished, someone suggested framing it and hanging it up as wall art. I didn't want the bother and expense of framing something I found in a box on the sidewalk. (That's a little pretentious for a jigsaw puzzle, in my opinion.) But I did like the idea of preserving it and displaying it somewhere unobtrusive. So I bought glue and this thing called puzzle conserver, which acts to seal all the pieces together. And voil : wall art. It rests above the entrance in a spare room. 5Excellent product! This product is amazing!! We use it to glue a 4000 pieces jigsaw puzzle, the quality is amazing, the aplicattion method is really easy, and it dries quick a completly clear. One bottle was enough to glue the entire puzzle. 53 coats, Puzzle Falls ApartThe most charitable explanation I can think of is that the bottle sat too long, or missed part of the assembly line, or needs to be sung to in German before the adhesive actually activates... but for whatever reason, this glue doesn't glue. I'll even tell you what I did so you can see I followed the directions:First coat: shake bottle, press down on foam applicator, glue comes out, swish-swish across the entire puzzle, making sure to swish glue into the cracks. Rinse applicator. Leave overnight.Puzzle pieces do not stick together. At all.Second coat: Shake bottle. Press a little harder, more product is coming out, swish-swish a little harder, really work glue into the cracks. Rinse applicator. Leave overnight.Puzzle pieces do not stick together. At all.Third Coat: Shake bottle. Pressing firmly, go over each spot several times. Work lots of glue into the cracks. At this point the coloured paper tops of the puzzle pieces are damp & separating from the cardboard puzzle pieces. Rinse applicator. Leave overnight....puzzle pieces do not stick together, at all. 1Holds pieces together very well, but doesn't make them rigid. This works great! It's really easy to work the glue onto the puzzle with the sponge applicator. You may have to squeeze the bottle a bit to get the glue out of the container though. Two to three coats seems to keep the puzzle pieces locked tightly together, but since the puzzle has no structure, it will flop around similar to a sheet of paper, so I'd suggest you glue your completed puzzle to a backer-board as well. When dried, the glue protects the puzzle and surprisingly brings out the colors quite a bit and diminished the borders between the puzzle pieces. I'd suggest getting this to bring a nice finish to your completed puzzles. 4
