Customer Reviews

Good for an age range of children playing togetherOur whole family could play this game together, which is rare. The 3yr old could place tiles for us on the printed game board by matching letters. The emerging 6yr old reader could recognize the printed words without having to know how to spell them correctly on her own as with a blank board. The 10yr old and adults could just play along without it being obnoxiously simple. This was a great game for a nice family evening. It has potential for the game to get more complex as it also includes a blank game board, which would be good with older children. The game tokens are shoddy tagboard punch outs, my only complaint about this game. Well worth the price, but I would have paid a few bucks extra for better quality pieces. 4Very Lame & cheaply madeI got this to introduce my granddaughter to Scrabble but it's cheaply made and, more importantly, really, really lame. We didn't even finish one game and switched to my old Scrabble from the '70's which is still great after all these years! 2BEST GAME FOR NEW READERS!My son is 6 and in Kindergarten. He LOVES this game. We're working on reading and sounding things out, so the side with the words already is perfect! He gets super excited when he wins and it really helps his confidence as a starting reader/speller! Word of caution though, if the board gets thrown (we had a poor sport guest player) chances are it will probably break. Ours tore down the split. :( Total bummer. But life happens, slap some tape on it and keep going. :) 5Appearance is everythingActually, I bought this to get my nephew started getting more acquainted withwords and spelling them. I thought it would help him stretch his vocabularyas well.Unfortunately I should have given the physical game more thought. Insteadmy thoughts were on wasting more money on something he wasn't happywith. The game was $10.00 and it looked it. The letters were cardboard andthings just looked and felt like they wouldn't be fun.You know- appearance is everything!!!! 3Good times! My sons (6 and 8 YO) love this game. I enjoy watching them strategize on their next move. The scoring system is also a great twist on the game for this age group. We inherited one from a friend that was missing some tiles, so I purchased a new one. My only disappointment is that the new "tiles" are cardboard and there are no tile racks to keep them from your opponent's' view. We have a blast with this game!! 4Less than One starDisappointed. Board, on both sides, was in my opinion, difficult to use. Bought it as a Christmas present for a seven-year-old child. He can spell....got 102 in his most recent spelling test at a very creditable private school. This boy was in tears when we played this game...the tiles kept shifting; the words were difficult to identify...even for me! I did not like it. But, that is my opinion. 1Fun for kids and familyGreat for teaching spelling and critical thinking. Wonderful that there are two sides - one with the words printed as a starter and the other a regular scrabble board. Also variety of instructions to raise the level of play. My 7 year old granddaughter loved playing both sides. Great gift. 5This is a great game as it "grows" with the childFabulous introduction into the challenging world of Scrabble! This game offers a chance for younger children to match picture words with letter tiles. Once they become more proficient at spelling and forming words, you can flip the board over and play on an advanced, blank board where kids (and adults too!) can create their own words. This is a great game as it "grows" with the child. Highly recommend! 5Fun game for all ages (^.^)We like to add to our collection of family board games, every so often, as other ones have been played enough times and we need something fresh :) Our daughter is six and she has been reading for several months and this game was a little challenging at first, due to that fact that she is a lazy learner....but she had the hang of it by the second time we played and felt a strong sense of confidence. Especially when she beat me. It has 2 sides....one that has the words already spelled out on the board (easy for the little ones) and a harder side that is blank.....take care 5GREAT GAME that grows WITH your child. We bought this game for my nephew and he absolutely loves it. On one side, there are words already listed on the board for beginner Scrabblers. This helps the kids to learn new words, and more importantly, how they fit within each other. Then on the other side, it is a traditional Scrabble board for the players to learn to create their own words and broaden their vocabulary. We like to mix the two and write down the words from the beginner side as "example words" for help on the traditional side. Just by swapping out a few letters here and there, you can have your child learning and making words in no time! :) 5
