    Takes the 7 year old away from the tablet for a little while, at least.I bought this for my 7 year old niece for Christmas. She loves it. She got through the Junior levels pretty quickly. She then went through the intermediate level a little more slowly but still got through it. The master level is definitely more challenging for her. She liked this game because she can play by herself or with her older sister or older cousins, who are also helping her out. For her, it's about the fun of the challenge. For me, I want to see her use her spatial skills as she doesn't play any sports. At least it takes her away from the iPad for a little while. 5Excellent Puzzle Game for Young KidsI bought this for my 6 year old and he LOVED it. He got through the first sets pretty quickly and then started getting frustrated as they got harder, but it was a great way to get him thinking. It's wonderful for problem solving. I'm always trying to find new ways to keep my boys entertained without resorting to TV and video games, and this was definitely a hit. He's definitely getting frustrated with the harder levels, but I'm looking forward to the lessons in patience and persistence as well! And since he's getting stuck on Junior level puzzles, I'm expecting this will be a long lasting game to get through ALL the levels. Would definitely recommend. 5This game was HARD! But fun! But HARD!I got this for a niece - aaaand...yeah, I really should have gotten her the Three Little Piggies game instead. She would have had more success with that game (she's age 6, but isn't really into logic games like her parents are).THIS game is super-duper fun. However! It's challenging. Like many logic puzzles, it can range from the 'What even!???' to the 'OMG, so obvious, how did I not see?' And that's the fun, right?The lower level puzzles are fairly straightforward. You look in the book, and attempt to re-create the picture with the moving ice-tile-pieces. It's a sort of adjustable ice tetris.The master levels though - whoa! I got stuck on the first one. And with these type of puzzles, you can either "see" the solution - or just not. I struggled with it, then my hubby came over, then his brother joined in and we all stared at it and poked around until we finally found the answer. And we're all big on these kind of games (2 programmers and 1 philosopher), so yeah, this was a beast. BUT! I love these kind of puzzles. It was fun.I think I want it for Christmas for myself. ;) 5Gift to 3 yo and 5 yo siblingsGood gift for parents who like "smart" toys and games. Gave this as a birthday gift to a couple that returns most things for their kids and they actually came and told me not only how much their boys love it, but how much they love it. Good solitary game, but can include kids by taking turns or by using a timer. Only con is that once the 60 puzzles are done you have to repeat, but you could make up your own challenges I guess. 5Great toy! Spatial intelligence made fun!This is an update of an earlier review. It looks small, but oh what a great toy! My 6 year old grandson loves it, and others are taking the challenge too. My 4 year old loves the easiest challenges, my 7 year old can set them up himself and solve them, our 11 & 12 year old friends could not get enough of it and played for an hour testing each other. So compact and easy to travel with. 5One of the favorites!I work with a lot of kids and this game is one of the favorites in my logic games collection. I like that the levels progress from easy to challenging so I can use it for elementary and middle school aged children. The kids like the cute penguins and especially the pieces with moving parts. It has been durable enough to hold up to lots of hands. 5penguins are so cuteI bought this puzzle for my sons 8 and 3 and they like this game. while older one likes to solve the puzzle, little one is just playing with it. It is safe for little kids - pieces are not small and well made. Great birthday's gift idea, penguins are so cute. 5Interactive Puzzling SolvingWe bought this as a gift for my grand-daughter (age 6) who is a penguin fan (see: happy feet , etc.). We try to by gifts that kids will use the minds on rather than the "sit & watch" the pretty lights and sounds of mesmerizing electronic goodies that are so prevalent in kid's toys today. The overall concept of this toy is good and we like the puzzle solving aspect (another thing she likes as well). The book that shows various levels of forms that can be created is well written. However, I am not-sure of the toy's replay ability. My grand-daughter already seems bored with and it sits on a toy self. Maybe she's already too advanced for it. 4I'd recommend it for all agesVery engaging and beneficial game for any age - even a 70 year old grandmother! My daughter suggested I get it for my grandchildren so that's how I was introduced. Her first exposure to Penguins On Ice was at a Home-Schooling Fair. I'd recommend it for all ages. 5
