Customer Reviews

Can't stop playing!Make sure that you have the 'basic cards' or the original thunderstone for this game. We had a tough time with it the first game, used all Wrath monsters and heros, but a random one or two are great. Some of the items are very useful, some are pretty lame, but that's part of the fun! 5the box alone is worth the priceI'm pretty organized, and whenever you buy an expansion to a board game, it's always a nightmare getting everything to fit nicely in a small box. This expansion comes with dividers and a slots for everything with room to spare for other expansions. It's amazingly useful. The added mechanics are fun, and really adding just a few new card types can really alter the feel of play, so lots of new variations/tactics. 5Fun GameFun game 5Solid expansionI would strongly recommend this expansion. Almost all of the cards in this expansion add fun to the gameplay. It includes a new monster type called "The Horde" that becomes increasingly difficult to kill. It also adds traps that can wreak serious havoc on your deck if you don't prepare accordingly. For full details on the content I would recommend visiting the BoardGameGeek website. 5Fun Expansion! This expansion introduces some fun twists to the base Thunderstone game. The new heroes, village cards, and dungeon cards provide a fresh new experience. The horde and trap cards are some interesting ideas, along with the solitaire rules of the game. Some say that this expansion is not as fun as Doomgate Legion, but the new storage solution for the box makes this a must buy! Doomgate legion follows the new storage concept, but it lacks the necessary dividers for the base game. I am able to fit the base set and both Wrath of the Elements AND Doomgate Legion expansions in the Wrath of the Elements box with room to spare. This makes the box smaller, but much heavier to carry around. If you're having any doubts, pick this one up even if it is just for the storage dividers. 4Great game!I am really liking this game. I bought the base set and the elemental expansion together. The dividers with the expansion are awesome, as is the new box and foam inserts. The game itself is really cool. Unlike card games I've played previously, you build the deck as you play instead of before the game. And I love the way you choose which monsters and heroes and item/spells at random each game, so it changes every time. And let me tell you, it can also make it hard! Last game I played we had super strong warriors and very high damage polearms (because of the strong warriors) and we still were hitting brick wall with the monsters that were chosen because they took half damage from non-magic attacks or non at all! It made the game last long time, but it was still fun! (Though, we had to house rule a cursed weapon with regular damage into a weapon with more curse and magic damage. Game was just becoming too long.)I said this game was educatioinal because you have to do math every time you go into the dungeon... add up attack, subtract light penalty...As for durability, they ARE good cards, but you shuffle these cards OFTEN, and you start with small deck so if you aren't careful you can really bend em up. Planning on sleeving them, hopefully it'll make them little more durable.Note, It seems like it can be a fun solo game also, it changes the rules slightly, where monsters move out of the dungeon hall if you don't kill them. 5Fun expansionWrath of the Elements adds in a lot of new things for Thunderstone. Along with a new Thunderstone there are also Traps and Guardians as well as new monsters, heroes, and village cards. So far it's been a lot of fun. 4as expectedas expected New fast delivery 5Good but not everything I thoughtSo far, I have tried to use this game (in a way that was probably not the best) and thought it was pretty enjoyable. The game seems like it is fun as it should be played and I am sure I would enjoy it. However, my biggest problem with this game are the words "Stand alone expansion". This is the advertised claim for this game. I know about the original Thunderstone game, and this seemed like a slightly cheaper and smaller substitute for the wider variety found in the full original set. As much as I talked with others, they all said that it could be played on its own (aka stand alone) or to expand the original game (aka expansion). However, this is not actually the case. There are cards from the Thunderstone base set you MUST have in order to play the expansion. I do not feel that in any way qualifies it as a "stand alone" expansion. Lots of other wordings in the rule book are either ambiguous or just simply worded horribly. This apparently has never been completely fixed, either, even after several revisions of the first rule book for Thunderstone.Despite these inconsistencies and what I consider to be the misleading "stand alone" aspect that is advertised, I think this game is pretty fun and I am sure it will be a lot funner when I actually have the proper cards to play the game from Thunderstone. 4
