Customer Reviews

Great value, but too bigThese are nice juggling balls for the price (very reasonable). They have good feel and grip, they are a little on the light side, but they have good balance. These balls don't bounce much, but they do roll away (hey, they are round). I would highly recommend these to an adult that wanted to learn to juggle, or that wanted some larger and highly visible juggling balls for showing off to friends once they have some juggling chops.I am deducting one star because these juggling balls are a little too big for beginners, women with smaller hands and children. Also because they would be incredible for intermediate jugglers (like me) if they were a little smaller because for the price they are a great way to have a whole pile of balls for juggling numbers (4, 5, 6!). They are still a good juggling ball, but at a full 3" they are difficult to manage in greater numbers.I know that the size is disclosed on the description (I anticipate at least one comment to inform me of this fact), but it is difficult to know how well an object will juggle based on the size indication alone with no point of reference. For what it is worth, I will try to give some reference here. Three inches is about the size of a baseball, larger than a tennis ball, and at the large end of the scale for high-end (expensive) juggling props. Typically, a three inch ball would be considered a "large" size in a juggling prop catalog or on a website that specializes in professional or better quality props. All that being said, I stand my a four star rating. The balls juggle well and they are a great value, but you really can't beat the feel of the more expensive stage balls that are available. I think their best use is as a starting set for an adult, or as performance or show props for a casual juggler that has his patterns down after relentless practice with beanbags or smaller props. Also. the size is less than ideal if they were trying to create a cost effective, universal starter set.UPDATE - 10/2016: I am still using these and they have held up really well. I have to admit that I have started using lacrosse balls for practice more than these. Lacrosse balls are really affordable, bounce, a lot, and are a better size (smaller than these). Of course, they are heavier, roll all over the place, and bounce around. not great for indoor juggling in close quarters unless you want to practice for endurance and strength with patterns that don't lead to a lot of drops. Not ideal for working on new moves. Anyway, 4-star for these balls, but check out lacrosse balls too if you like to practice outside or want something heavy and smaller than these. 4Way to much bounce. Completely useless - ESPECIALLY for a beginner but really for anyone. The manufacturer should be ashamed. The balls bounce off each other so they are completely completely unusable for learning. Juggling ball should have zero bounce - absolutely zero. I actually knew how to juggle a little bit and I wasn't looking for anything professional, but these are totally unfit for any level of juggling. I have to wonder how any legitimate review can give them anything but a complete fail - well, maybe if the person buying had never touched a decent ball before. 1Seem Good Enough for BeginnersI am very much a beginner with regard to juggling. I had started with tennis balls that were lying around the house and wanted to get my hands on something made for juggling. These balls are just slightly larger and heavier than tennis balls. This annoyed me at first, but once I got used to the balls, they feel pretty good to juggle. They will bounce a little and roll when they fall, but not nearly as much as tennis balls. These are the only juggling balls I own; I do not own any of the bean bag balls. I imagine those may be easier for beginners because they won't really roll, but I didn't find this to be a big problem. They do have a little bit of a rubber type smell to them. My nose is fairly sensitive, but I didn't find this to be an issue. The smell was stronger initially and I would wash my hands after juggling. After using these for about a month I no longer feel the need to wash my hands after using.I am buying a second set as I'm going to try to tackle 4 ball juggling next. 4On the fence for this product? Do yourself a favor and buy it!New to Juggling? Maybe you're an expert or only have a few years of juggling under your belt? Either way you can't go wrong with these juggling balls. It's time to upgrade from your baseballs, Target starter balls, or even tennis balls filled with sand. Although I am still somewhat of a beginner to juggling, after purchasing this product I was able to learn some medium difficulty tricks such as Mill's Mess and The Crane.Having the opportunity to practice with quality balls will motivate you to try more and more difficult maneuvers. And trust me, the quality of these balls are evident as soon as you touch them. The vinyl gives them a simultaneously smooth and textured feel allowing you to catch and throw them with minimal pressure from your fingers to keep them from flying away. The weight of these balls makes it easier to toss and catch them too, while also making them retain their shape while in your hand. The ability to retain their shape has become more and more important the longer I juggle, and I would have never discovered this until I upgraded to balls of this caliber. Now at some point, every juggler wants to show off in front of others. These balls are great to perform with because they give the spectator something pretty to watch as you go through your routine. The picture shown to the left does little justice to the actual color of these balls; the green and yellow are much darker while the red is just a shade lighter. The only drawback to this item is that because the balls have much less give than a ball made of plastic and sand, so they travel much further when dropped. However, this is great incentive for a new juggler to practice throwing and catching until their form is perfect!Quit debating on whether you need the upgrade and just go ahead and purchase this item. For $10 you can see for yourself if what I'm saying is true, and I assure you that you won't regret your purchase. I hope everyone gets the same enjoyment from these balls as I have, and good luck in mastering all of those tricky moves! 4Better for the advanced juggler than the beginnerI bought these as a learning juggler. Now that I have mastered the technique a bit, I realize that they are really too light for good control while learning. I did much better when I switched to square bean bags. I think that the ideal weight and size for juggling balls should be roughly the size of small oranges. In all seriousness, I juggled oranges last night and realized that I would have been better off with something like that when I started. On the other hand, my juggling instructor had no problems with this particular set, but again, he is an advanced juggler. 3Y'all complain too much!!These balls rock. Their perfectly spherical nature and grippy texture allows for the balls to roll of the finger easy as pie. You could say that their weight and size encourage a more delicate and calculated approach, but I still can't figure how how this is a bad thing as learning to be more delicate ultimately amounts to better speed and consistency..Very light and extremely effortless to catch and throw. I can juggle these faster and more effortlessly than any other ball I've ever tried to juggle, personally. I can see them in my peripherals better, too. 5For the price, you can't beat these.I've been juggling for about 3 months now, and have practiced daily with these for the past month and a half. They're a durable, well made ball that sacrifices very little in terms of quality compared to other premium balls that I've had a chance to use. They do bounce a bit more than beanbags, but it's acceptable. They'll roll away easily, but unless you're using Russian style (partially filed) balls, that's just a fact of life. For a novice, I'd start with bean bags to reduce frustration from them rolling away. The psychological effect of chasing down your mistakes can be very discouraging. Don't sabotage your success with frustration! Buy bean bags and *then* move to these. 5Since we're just beginners, we first bought a trio ...Since we're just beginners, we first bought a trio of the soft-cased, shot-filled juggling balls. Presumably those wouldn't roll away when dropped. But their off-center shapes made them a bit difficult to catch. And they all had the same four-pane design. These round balls are much easier to practice with for several reasons. First, each is of a different color, unlike our bean-bag triad. These are also slightly larger diameter, and finally they're slightly more firm. And they cost less! We'll probably order another set of these since my wife has taken up this habit-forming past-time as well. 5What can you say about balls...Never in a million years did I believe I could learn to juggle. So, when I discovered a couple of How-To introduction to juggling on you-tube that actually made sense and were slow enough for me to follow along with I went to a couple of local stores to buy some balls to practice with. For some reason, balls that are roughly the right size and weight to juggle with are not on the top of most store's list of important items to stock. I wound up finding 3 balls that were the same size but were very light. I started practicing and discovered I really am bad at juggling but, after watching the videos, could actually juggle the way it's supposed to be done (although for a very, very short period of time). So, I decided if I was going to be bad at juggling I might as well do it with the right equipment and I came across these balls. Since I have no real experience with a wide range of juggling paraphernalia all I can say is that these are heavier than the first set of non-juggling balls and the surface is less slick. Unfortunately, that does not translate into me being a master juggler. Also, it may just be me but I think the red one is defective since it seems to be the one that breaks pattern, drops, and rolls under furniture more often than the other ones... but that could just be my imagination. 4Experience may vary, but I found these fun Play is important. I think about how much these cost versus other ways I spend my money and how much I enjoy using them. Yes they roll so expect to chase them if you drop them as often as I do, which is a lot. Yes they are light and large, but I found this combo to really inspire creative moves because of the spin. I previously only juggled fruit and beanbag-type balls so it took some getting used to, still does, but these are a strong buy if you ask me 5
