Customer Reviews

"Yay shiny dice!" -a kender's reviewI bought a bag of holding that came with dice, since my dice collection is currently missing and a D&D player can never have enough dice. It arrived quickly and I immediately opened it and began playing with my new dice. They're so shiny! They are all different, I have 20 complete sets. I've got blue and black, red and green and orange and pink and purple. I have glitter and metallic and solid and transparent. I can't decide what set I want to play with most. I love them. The bag is sturdy and well stitched. It will hold my dice so good. And let's face it... 30$ for 20 sets of dice is a super good deal too. 5It's a bet on whether QC was good that dayOn the surface, this is a very good deal. And it CAN be if you're fortunate. Our first order was fortunate, a nice Bag of Devouring with some very pretty, fairly decent dice. Not as solid or hefty as Chessex dice, but for the cost I didn't expect them to be. That was to be my test order, because I liked the colors in that one better than this one. I preferred the look of the bag.The first bag was a good size, just about the same as a Crown Royal bag. MOST of the dice were good. There were some bubbles in some of the dice, and one of the percentile dice is over-colored on the 20 and the 00. The bag itself was, sadly, another story. The stitching came out from the top hem within 24 hours of use, and we requested a replacement. The replacement was a solid three inches wider than the initial bag, and had exactly the same stitching issues. It's enormous, and FAR too big for even three times the number of dice that come with this bag. The dice inside it were...of lower quality than the first sets to be generous. The percentile dice in half of them aren't even using the same numeric molds as the rest of the set. Or the rest of the percentile dice. After very short consideration, I opted to fix the first one and return the second instead. It's waiting to be put in the mail as I write this. A Crown Royal bag is a good size for a DM's dice bag. Something that will hold TWO of them, not so much. The one on the left is the second, replacement for the first, defective one. Fortunately, since I do actually like the design and it is well stitched on the design portion, I CAN fix the defect myself.I shouldn't have to.Conclusion: If you're willing to make a bet on what you'll get, it's a good value for the money overall. I wouldn't rely on the quality control though. 2Good For Starters and Long-TimersAs it says right on the tin, this is a bag of 140 dice (divided into 20 sets of your standard 7 dice). The bag itself is a sizable cotton sack, and does lend itself to a few stray bits of fuzz and threading which can easily be dealt with using scissors. The Pros:- The bag (as stated above), is fairly sizable. Even with 140 dice in tow there's still enough room for about 200 more. The design is also very worn, so it fits in well with any old fantasy campaigns-Each set is present and accounted for, and the speckled sets (Serpent, Smoke, Horizon, Copper Sands, Imperial Gem, and Forbidden Treasure) are striking in their own right.-The dice themselves are of standard quality and are ready for whatever task you put them to, whether it be cutting down a dragon with a d20, hacking a mainframe with a d6, or lighting up a vampire with a d10.The Cons:- The dice sets are exactly as displayed on the preview images, but I did find a few issues with mine (mostly with the d4s). Some of the application was either scratched off or just didn't take, so a few pips have a scratched-off appearance or are otherwise aren't completely inked in.-The translucent dice are fairly dull, and on closer inspection have a "previously used" look to them. This is the case with most of the dice in this set, but it's more evident on the translucent dice.-The Imperial Gem set is almost completely indistinguishable from the Opaque Green set unless you have them in direct light. Horizon and Opaque Blue almost suffer from this as well, but the speckle on Horizon is much more pronounced in low-light.All in all, this is a great deal for players and GMs alike. 3Finally, a storage bag set from Wiz DiceUnfortunately, it falls flat for me compared to past purchases and other bag assortments.~~The Dice~~Your standard fair if you've ever purchased the pound assortment from Wiz Dice. Only this time you're guaranteed the 20 sets rather than the one in the tiny velour bag. Every listed set was included and matched the designs depicted, all up to the terrible readability on the Hidden Treasure set in any lighting. I will comment that I did appreciate the update on the Serpent style to not make it as gaudy as it was in the past with an overload of glitter. While Wiz Dice made good on this guarantee, the quality of the dice wasn't as tip top as their pound assortments usually are. I received 5 over-inked tetrahedrons on a corner that result in biased rolls for four. a tetrahedron with half the inking cropped off a side, and countless uninked or incomplete numbers on most of my D8s, 12s and 20s. I'm still a bit surprised by this considering multiple past perfect pounds purchased, but fortunately there were still no chippings like you'll see in other assortments and i have enough to replace those that were rendered unusable. A single star will suffice.~~The Bag~~The actual reason you bought this set, let's review the bag. Included are some more shots of the bag at full capacity in some other angles, The bag is in fact the cream color described by Wiz Dice so no confusion here. Material used feels more akin to a fleece based fabric than to a pure cotton or a velvet, but there was no indication as to what the material actually was included with the bag. The stitching is in fact double stitched on the sides but outward facing which can cause fraying in the stitching from just sliding the bag or can easily be knicked if you're carrying it around constanly. The drawstring are two braided paracord tied together inside the seam tunnel and are roughly double the length of the bag. I really appreciate the metal eyelets on the tunnel seam holes for it's protection from friction. The closure it makes was not really snug but not loose enough to let dice out if turned over with the included 140 dice in. Recommendation to buy some paracord spring locks to keep the bag closed if you plan to use the full capacity of the bag.For the capacity review, I will be comparing it to the infamous Crystal Caste Skull Bag and a handmade 9"x7" drawstring sack I purchased from a friend for roughly around the same cost as the others minus the included dice. Using my extras from previous Wiz Dice pound purchases, i filled each bag to capacity and roughly counted out the totals:Crystal Caste Skull Bag - 160 Dice9" x 7" drawstring sack - 220 DiceBag of Holding - just shy of 300 DiceAn excellent storage bag which, unlike the crystal caste skull nor the sack at any percentage, can stand upright on it's own at only a quarter capacity. This bag can easily become someone's collection's centerpiece all for comparatively less the price of an actual Crown Royal or large rounded bottom bag.Unfortunately my bag came in with some of the tunnel fabric frayed, a mess of embroidery film on the inside of the bag, pilling of the bag material, and, to top it all off, a hole on the frontward facing bottom stitch. Would count off two stars, even three if I didn't know how to repair this, for such a lack of QA but the sheer capacity of the bag more than makes up for at least a star. Not to mention it could still hold 300 dice nicely even with that hole and the fraying.Would I repurchase this bag set? Of course not. I already have the sets and a bag that i can lightly repair to full. Why would I need more of the same? But would i recommend this bag set to others? Definitely if they're looking for an easy buy for multiple 7-pc sets with some included storage for them and room to grow. 3Wide Variety Set.My husband has decided to reprise his role as "Dungeon Master" after years of D&D celibacy. I don't know what spurred him on, but in his sudden-onset desire to start playing again, he has managed to recruit both of our sons and my 8 year old daughter for play. It's nice, as it gives them some fun family time doing something that isn't electronic-related, and in turn, I am able to get some stuff done around the house while they play (because Lord knows I'm not getting involved in all that shenaniganery, lol). For our eldest son's birthday in March, my husband ordered this die set to accompany the many other accessories they have for game-play. This set, especially for the price value, is fantastic for them. There is a wide array of colors and shapes, providing for any and all game play needs-D&D related and otherwise. The set comes with a neat little canvas carry bag complete with rope-pull close for simple storage.Only word of advise: If you have smaller children or pets (as we do), please be sure whomever uses the set ensures all die are picked up and put away promptly to avoid choking/falling hazard (or if you are me, the plethora of chain-linked curse words being viciously screamed throughout the entire venue whilst stepping on a loose triangular one, lol).Would purchase again in a heartbeat, but given the amount of die, I don't suppose we will need to re-purchase any time soon. :) 5The Best in theBundle, Bundle in Bag, Bag Bundle BuisnessSo, just to put a little perspective in for non-dice enthusiasts, the most commonly bought dice set is of the 6 core dice, save percentile but percentile is basically a less useful d10, at any local board game store for 10-12 dollars. That is for one 'technically incomplete set. I own one of these small sets, and they work alright. They aren't particularly interesting, but they work. A few days ago I was looking up dice sets that come bundles, which is something that players will most likely need, and came across an item called "A Mound of Dice." It's 35 dollars for 98 dice and one single coloured set. The 98 dice make up 14 sets, but they aren't colour coordinated. These come in a plastic bag with scuffed up dice. Luckily, before I bought it, as that seemed like an amazing deal to me, the person that spent 10 dollars on one set, I look up dice bags on Amazon. Low and behold, this strange unheard of company pops up. !Wiz Dice! The photo shows a clothbag, dice, and the phrase "$30 and free shipping with prime." But these dice... These dice weren't just grab bagged, some left overs from a factory. They were full sets, colours that matched, all of them in a set of their own. I opened the link and read the words "20 Sets," and saw them laid before me, some translucent, some with this weird sorts mixed colour scheme, and some that looked like the vintage sets. This, my friends, is truly a product made with love, and that bag feels so good. The fabric isn't pretty thick. I really like the bag. I didn't need it. Now I do. Get it for the bag, then worry about the dice. The dice are also good. Good dice. 5Dumpster fire of a dice lot, mixed fonts/generations of dice, many defects.I've written 5 star reviews for both of the other "Bag of" sets from Wiz Dice I purchased through Amazon, but this one was a hot mess on arrival. I've requested a return/replacement so I'll update this review if the first set I got was an anomaly, or if it seems like an issue with more than one example from the sellers current inventory. What I got included all 20 sets from the Wiz Dice Series 1 set as advertised, but within the sets there are examples from 3 different generation of production runs. Different production runs/generations within the Wiz Dice sets used different molds, with differing fonts, colors and other variances that really stand out, particularly within a single dice set (the D4, D6 and D10's are the most obvious) or if you look at different sets side by side. There were also a number of defective dice in the collection I got, with misprinted ink, chips/deformations and bubbles/inclusions in 10 of the 20 included sets. I found only 2 sets of the the entire lot of 20 that were not a mix of different font styles/manufacturing generations. This is totally unacceptable and inconsistent with the quality of products I've seen in their Series 2 and 3 "Bag of" sets, so I'm hopeful this was just an anomaly and I can update this review with a more positive tone when the replacement arrives. Stay tuned. 2i tried to picture it the best i could but the bag also had little black ...when i purchased this i really just wanted the bag, as you can see by the pictures i was not to thrilled with seeing all the strands of the stitching coming off all over the place, it also only draws from one side because the drawstring is stitched to the bag, unsure if this is intentional or if this bag was just a huge mess of a failure. i tried to picture it the best i could but the bag also had little black spots on the material it was made from.moving onto the dice, some of the paint was missing from pieces of some of the numbers but that is expected with bulk dice. I also like d4's that read from the top (on the points) rather than the bottom, however these read from the bottom.all in all the dice i was happy with, all the sets were there as stated, but the bag i was not to thrilled about 2Meh, save $10 and buy a pound o diceI ordered this instead of Pound-O-Dice because they guarantee 20 different complete sets and Wiz Dice advertises that they "Only deal in factory firsts." Well I got 20 complete sets, but some of what might be called "premium" colors are nearly indistinguishable from the plain sets. The clarity of some of the translucent dice is also unimpressive considering that seems to be part of what they are trying to advertise as well. But my biggest gripe is that the quality of the printing on many of the dice is complete crap. I've included a picture of a few of the worst offenders. 3+1 to Product Awesomeness, and +5 to Excellent Service! When the product arrived, I was excited to see all the dice that was soon to be divided up among our group of adventurers. However, I discovered that the bag contained a rip, and most of the dice were loose inside of the envelope. At first, I thought that I could repair it, thinking that it was probably just a popped seam. I was saddened to see that the bag was ripped in an area that seemed like one of the dice may have rubbed thru the material, making it difficult to repair for an inexperienced stitcher like myself.I decided to contact the seller, because since this order was placed to have the sets of dice split among the group of adventurers for a weekend gaming session, I knew that requesting a return would be out of the question. When I contacted that seller, I was told that they were very sorry for the damaged product, and that they would send out a replacement Bag of Holding. When the package arrived, you can imagine my surprise and excitement, when I discovered that the package contained not only a replacement Bag of Holding, but was FULL OF DICE AS WELL!!!Now I can do as I had originally planned, and present the Bag of Holding to the group's DM, in a blatantly transparent attempt at bribery to hopefully garner favorable treatment when next we meet to continue our campaign's adventures! 5
