This does not seem to be an authentic Jelly Cat stuffed animal or maybe I just received a defective one. Sending it back! 1Strong enough to survive years of devoted attentionFor our family, this is the toy we have had to buy three of one for naptime at school and two at home, so one can be in the laundry while the other is in the crib. After 2+ years of constant and occasionally violent service, they have shown no signs of damage, though, of course, they have grown slightly matted with wear. 5So cute and soft, my 7 mo old LOVES!From the moment we introduced it to him, my 7mo old loves his "mini Stella" so much! This stuffed cat looks like our cat, Stella, who my son is already very attached to :) Perfect size stuffed cat for a baby. He goes to sleep easily when he's got his mini Stella cat to cuddle! Also made very well and safe for baby, soft and fluffy but no hairs ever have come out. I love how there's the perfect amount of stuffing and beans inside to make it perfectly squeezable and light weight.Updating with a pic a year and a half later to answer a question from an inquirer: My son, almost 2 now, still loves this kitty! He still loves to cuddle with it and brings it with him almost everywhere he goes. It's held up to washing and drying and is still intact and perfect. To answer a question, laying the kitty next to my yard stick it measures about 12.5 inches from tip of tail and feet to tip of ears. 5Quality Discrepancy leaves something to be desired...So I wouldn't call myself a "Jellycat Connoisseur" but after my initial delight with this item I started to nitpick. A friend had gifted us a Jellycat Medium Bashful Bunny in Cream that she purchased in person and once I started to compare the two the differences were even more apparent.1. Size. The cat seems shorter but I think it's just that it is smaller around and the head is smaller. I measured the bunny's tummy at about 27cm and the cats tummy at about 24cm. The head is noticibly smaller. This could simply be due to them being different animals with different shapes. The cats eyes are smaller than the bunnies. The cat feels slightly less stuffed than the bunny.2. Fabric. In reviewing the listing, it would seem that the fabric of the cat isin fact made with the "grain" of the fur "upside-down". I'm not sure if that is intentional or not but it seems like an odd choice when the bunny has his "fur" with the grain going "down" which is nicer to feel when "petting". I also feel that the fur is softer in the bunny, and I am seeing more "shedding" fur from the cat.3. The tags. This will pretty much account for the difference in quality, as far as I am concerned. The bunny's tag says it was made in China. The cats tag said it was made in Indonesia. As a toy collector in the past I have seen many brands suffer a reduction in quality when moving production from China to Indonesia. Normally I would consider this evidence of a counterfeit or bootleg but according to the Jellycat site, the bashful cat is indeed manufactured in Indonesia while the medium bunny is manufactured in China.I'm giving this three stars because my 11 month old son still seems to like his "zhizhi" (how he says kitty) and like I said, most of my issues are nitpicks and I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't have another Jellycat to compare to. Three stars for fulfilling the bare requirements I needed of a "stuffed cat" but my disappointment in the quality of this one is why I took the two stars off. From now on I'll be checking the country of origin for any future Jellycat toys I may purchase and I suggest you all do too. To view this information (since I didn't see it on Amazon) go to the Jellycat website and "view certificate" for the toy you are considering. 3Flat head kittyI got the left one years ago from a gift store, the right one is from Amazon, obviously, the older one looks smarter (look at their heads). I used a kitchen scale, the older one is 48g, while the newer one is 41g, not sure what's going on, but the newer one has less cotton and beans, not easy to sit still, maybe Jellycat has changed their "recipe" after these years. Still, it's a cute soft kitty, 4 stars for the flat head and the missing 7g cotton. 4Huggable!There is NOTHING TO DISLIKE! This JellyCat is soft and huggable! Has even had a Spa Day in the washer, coming out as beautiful and huggable as ever. 5Perfect for my 1 year old birthday girl!Bought this adorable kitty for one of my twins for her kitty-themed first birthday! She immediately pet him and seemed to enjoy the softness of his fur. We have a black kitty named crabman - whom they LOVE - and this grey kitty is perfect for her to learn about cats...and friends. I gave this kitty 4 stars because I also purchased the Jellycat Bashful Clack and White Cat, Medium, and this grey kitty was slightly smaller.Shipped quickly, no problems. 4I bought two from the same seller. The first one was fine, but the second seemed fakeI bought two for my daughter. One around October and the second i bought just now. When I got the second one it seemed weird. I compared them they were totally different. The second one had weird fur, especially on the arms. The ears were misshapen, the legs and body are shorter that the first. Also the beads in the body and feet were bigger than the ones in the first one. I attached a picture, but it is hard to tell what I am describing.When I compare the first one I bought to other Jellycat dolls that we have, they are similar in quality. The second one I bought definitely had quality issues.I am not sure if the second one is just a mistake and poor quality control, or if it is a fake. 1Cute little Jellycat.I love all the Jellycat toys. They are super cute and well made, and this one is no exception. I love that they have pellets in the bottom and feet to give them a good weight and help them sit up when propped. If you have never seen the small size, they are pretty small. Just be aware. I got this one for a baby, so it will be a good size for her to carry around and it looks adorable on the shelf. She will already hug her Jellycat toys when she takes naps. 5So soft!Purchased this stuffed animal as part of the cat themed baby gift that we gave our friends. Inspected it when we received it and saw no defects and the quality seems good. The best thing about this animal is how amazingly soft it is! I'm definitely interested in purchasing one for my future children. 5
