Customer Reviews

I liked the gold trimmingI liked the gold trimming. But I believe I see why they did not have actual card photos to view through the advertising. Only the back of cards are trimmed. Except for the king n queen. Their actual picture are trimmed as well. Other then that the number cards n rest have the same dull design as a five dollar deck. But I still will enjoy the difference...for now. 3Very disappointing qualityI'm pretty new with collecting playing cards, but I've got a few Theory11 decks already. Maybe mine was a fluke, but this one isn't anywhere close to the quality of the others (e.g. monarchs, product red, NPH). The paper for the tuck case is super thin and flimsy, and they have the same chemical smell to them when I opened them as a set of 88-cent Maverick cheapo playing cards from wally world. The finish is rough so the cards stick to each other, and the edges are too rough to allow a good Faro shuffle: that was the first thing I noticed, since that's the most recent thing I've been working on. Either these are knockoffs, or they're an absolute nosedive from the usual quality you get with Theory11 decks. Don't waste your money. 2Okay but DisappointingThis deck is just okay.PROS: The card backs have a great design (as does the box), the cards are well constructed, and there is a double-backed card includedCONS: The box (as others have noted) is not constructed very well and feels a little cheap, the jokers are uninteresting, and only the ace of spades has a unique face; all the other cards are standard, including the face cardsBasically, this is a $4-$5 deck of cards, nowhere near as impressive in person as the images suggest. 3Goos craftsmanshipCards are really well made and have a good feel to them. I hate using bicycle cards because they get bent easily. These cards are the perfect blend of flexibility and stiffness.5The Ultimate Playing Card DeckMy son and his girlfriend are obsessed with gin rummy, so I got each of them a deck of these cards for their Christmas stocking. Wow! They are unbelievably well-made. They fan out so smoothly, and are a nice, heavy weight. They must have a patent on the finish on these cards because they are smooth without being shiny, and are extremely pleasing to the touch. The design looks ancient and secretive, too. Highly recommend! 5I give this a five star rating because the feel is better than a regular deck of cardsWhat do you value in cards? The look and feel. I give this a five star rating because the feel is better than a regular deck of cards, it feel more broken in, without the used look. I bought these for Nertz and they are some of the best for the quick grip action. Also, the box is nice. 5The attendees loved the cardsThese cards were bought as gifts for attendees at a Member-Guest golf outing. The theme of the outing was "A Day at Monte Carlo" and these cards were the elegant touch that accompanied our luncheon that followed our golf round. The attendees loved the cards ... the design was so very elegant. The cards were printed with a high gloss finish and best of all they were manufactured in the United States. We also gave a "Hardwood Card Holder as a companion piece to the deck of cards.5OpulentThe stock used for this model is on the thick end of the spectrum, and the linen finish handles beautifully. The tuck boxes are a work of art, and I really dig the printing date on the seal and ace.5Not the same cards I orderedI would have loved for them to be the cards I ordered. Although very similar, the design is different. 4Probably the most luxurious cards I've ever seen. A must for collectors.Let me just say this... These cards are frikken gorgeous!Everything about these screams excellence and luxury, right down to the metallic seal. The boxes are made from very nice card stock with one of the most matte finishes I've seen in paper. The black box, in particular, is an incredibly deep black that you'd normally only expect from a gloss finish, and this sets off the gold foil artwork ablaze, yet the embossing effect is still visible. The white deck has the same artwork, but on a white, almost cream colored card stock instead. There is no coating on these boxes; these are bare card stock, and as such, are extremely susceptible to water damage. Both come with stamp-like seals with edition numbers, which are also present on the aces. The cards themselves are top quality, as is expected from the USPCC. The backs have a thin white border, about half as thick as regular cards, and this thin border also serves to showcase the attention to detail present here; it's extremely uniform all around. When you put a border this thin on something that will be cut later, the slightest registration errors will be far more noticeable. I see none, and I've sorted several regular decks so their thin borders are all on the same sides. The black deck has a black pattern printed over a pale bronze metallic background. Similarly, the Ace of Spade uses black and metallic to great effect, mimicking the design on the box, but without the foil or embossing. The white deck has the same design on the back, but without the black ink; the design is made up entirely by the metallic ink and the white card stock. The faces are identical on both decks, and have no more than three colors printed on them; black, a burgundy red and the metallic bronze (it's a bit dull to be gold really). There are two identical Jokers, which have a circular emblem with "The Guild Of Artisans" across the top and "The U. S. Playing Card Company" on the bottom, also using the three inks. The decks also contain one double-backer and a promo card for Theory 11.I normally remove the seals on my decks, carefully to avoid ripping the boxes, and toss the cellophane wrap as well. I made exceptions for these decks, leaving the seal in place, and keeping the boxes in what's left of the wrap to keep them protected. The seals, due to the embossing of the boxes, are easily peeled up to allow opening. Even with limited, gentle handling, I know these will eventually start to show signs of wear and I'm already planning to get at least one more set for backups. At $16 for the pair, they're a great bargain, but they're so nice, you'd hate to see any harm come to them. As such, these will appeal to collectors more than anyone, and few would actually want to put these through the wear & tear of game play.Personally, I think Theory 11 outdid themselves on these decks. But to be sure, I'm collecting their other decks now. The designs of these two just caught my eye first. 5Very clean looking deckGreat deck of cards, especially for cardistry/card tricks. The deck feels very agile, not bulky or thick like other more generic decks. The design is exquisite, with the crown jewel being the Ace of Spades with the edition number on the face. Very cool deck, well worth 9 bucks 5Ehhh you're better off saving $$ + getting $1.50 Bicycle Cards at WalmartPros: The ace of spades card is meticulously decorated; the back of all the cards have a pretty cool gold/white design; the tuck case (paper case the deck of cards comes in) is very pretty as well; the deck is neither too slippery or too rough so it's easy to deal cardsCons: the design on the back of the cards is pretty flat (I.e. No foil, relief, texture, or vibrancy); the tuck is made from lower quality paper which means it tears/rips easily, and the design wears off easily; all cards faces (except for jokers and the ace of spades, which have a unique design) are EXACTLY THE SAME as regular $1.50 Bicycle Cards that can be found at your local Walmart/Walgreens cash register. There's a reason these companies only show you the intricately designed tuck case, the back of the cards, and/or the royal court cards (and Aces) in their preview pictures - those are usually the ONLY ones with a unique design. 85% of the deck is basic/boring. If anyone knows a playing card deck w/ a gold and white theme that is incorporated throughout the ENTIRE deck (tuck case, front and back of cards including number and court cards/aces), please let me know! 3These are just down right nice. The only thing is the joker cards are ...These are just down right nice. The only thing is the joker cards are not labled to be distinguishable (They look the same so you will have to write or mark them). 5
