The Original Version was BetterThe game as-is is just okay. It s simple, fun at first, but quickly loses interest with kids. I was also bummed to see how much it had changed from the original version of this game, which was a lot more fun. Originally, the game came with pliers, and you actually pulled free the tooth you wanted. Whenever you pulled the sore tooth, his mouth would snap shut, and he d chase you by rolling forward. He also had a roll of teeth at the top of his mouth too (just stickers) and the general look of the crocodile was more detailed. I know you then had to place all the teeth back in their slots, but it was well worth the added interest in the game. If I had known how bland this version was, I probably wouldn t have bought it.This game would be fine for a car ride, since it doesn t have any small pieces, but I wouldn t expect your kids to stay entertained for very long. 3Tons of fun for almost 4 year old daughter!As a child, I remember going to my Mamaw's house and playing this game. Imagine my delight when one day I was browsing Amazon for games for my 3 almost 4 year old daughter and I saw this!!! I was so excited! After purchasing this game, I was a little nervous that the crocodile "biting" her would scare her, but she wasn't afraid at all. She thinks this game is tons of fun and hilarious! My 2YO loves this game AND will play the game by himself, ha. Very kid friendly. Enough space between the pushed down tooth and the top of the crocodiles mouth (see picture). I do recommend putting the game in a spot where kids can t get it at 7am while you re still sleeping....otherwise it ll wake you up . The concentration and apprehension were evident in the children's choices as they played. The shrieks of joy and surprise when the crocodile closed his mouth made this game so much fun for them. It doesn't hurt, but it is a surprise to get caught in the croc's mouth! The kids played with this game for a long time. They chose it over electronic games and toys. It was a big hit! I'd buy this game again in a snap! 5Great educational tool!I remember this game as a kid so I purchased this one for a dental head start project a work. It's so perfect for ages 0-5 but any age past that they may get bored. It is all one piece and there are no pieces to lose. The mouth snaps down when they press on the "aching tooth" and it may startle the toddler but it's not harmful in my opinion so adult supervision will be needed at first to show them how to reset it. It's simple; a great visual, hands on educational tool. I love it! 5Fun game, especially useful in speech therapyThis is a great game for teaching turn taking and is simple enough for young kids to learn, as well as exciting for the older kids. I have used this game with my 2 year old daughter and also with my kids in speech therapy. I agree with some of the other reviewers who stated that the game is so simple that it can lose some of the fun after a certain amount of time, but if you change up the game play you can make the fun last longer. My daughter eventually grew tired of the game, so I changed the rules a couple of times and we ended up playing the game even longer. The basic game play is that each player takes a turn pushing down a tooth and hoping it doesn't cause the croc to bite down. Here are the other ways to play:1. Have one person push the teeth down and count how many teeth it took to make the croc bite down. Once all players have gone, you can talk about the number of teeth each person had to push down or decide whoever pushed down the most teeth is the winner.2. Each person takes a guess how many teeth it will take to make him bite down. You can play by having each person take a turn or only have one person push down teeth at a time. Whoever guessed the closest to the number of teeth it took to make the croc bite is the winner.3. Guess the exact tooth that will make him chomp. In this version you WANT to make the croc bite and if you pick the right/"sore" tooth you are the winner. Each turn, the player takes a guess as to which tooth he thinks is the "sore" tooth and then pushes it hoping he makes the croc bite down. Keep playing until you make the croc bite down.I also wanted to add, if your kid is scared about it hurting when the croc bites down, you can use a popsicle stick or something similar to push down the teeth. I have used this method with kids in therapy who want to play, but are too afraid of the bite. Once we have played a couple of times with the popsicle stick, they eventually try the game with their fingers and realize that it doesn't hurt. 5Brilliantly simple game for the whole familyI got this for my 4 year old as a gift for being super good at the dentist. This game is so simple, it is brilliant. My 2 year old and my 4 year old LOVE IT! Plus, no removable parts, no batteries, and its compact design makes it portable. I can see them losing interest quickly since it is so simple, but I plan to put it on a shelf for a few weeks and then it will be a hit again. It seems sturdy enough, although it is entirely plastic. We just got it a few days ago, so I can't speak to its longevity. The "sore tooth" definitely seems random. We played about 10 games right away and had only one repeat. One word of caution: show your children how it "chomps" down before you start playing. Though it is completely harmless, it scared my 4 year old to the point she didn't want to play until the rest of us had played several more games. 5It's a winner in our houseWe bought this for a 3-year old... it's simple, the game lasts less than a minute, and there's very little explanation required to figure out how to play. We are enjoying lots of giggles as we pretend to be afraid of pushing the next tooth, and then we ham it up when we get "bitten." I'm also a fan that it is a one-piece toy, so no pieces to lose. One unexpected outcome is that we are also using it as we play Barbie games (the crocodile is at the zoo - Barbie needs to fix his teeth). It's creating a lot of imaginative, interactive play time opportunities. 5Fun, sturdy and no small pieces to get lost!We were looking for simple game for my 2 and 4 year old to play. This fit the bill perfectly! They love the fun of this big green crocodile! What fun to take turns pressing teeth until CHOMP! My favorite thing about this is it doens't need to be put back in the box, and everything is all in one convenient piece. Simply opening the mouth back up resets the game to a new "mystery" sore tooth! My 2 year old will sit and play this all by himself and it's sure taken more than it's fair share of beating and still has held up great! I would definitely recommend for young kids, even the rough-on-everything kids like mine! 5
