    A great replacement for mom's cell phone.Kids loved it, I must now order one for sissy. My k-boy takes it with him in the car, it is great vecause it is easy to carry around and the glow in the dark is a plus for night trips. They can play with it without distracting me or asking for the tablet/mom's phone. I am trying to eradicate the use of electronic devices and this item had helped tremendously. *Along with the Lego pull apart dinosaurs. 5Perfect desk toy, but a little more delicate than the full-size versionI've had a long delight in a larger version of this that was part of a toy collection at a children's camp, and was so pleased when I found one in a size I could keep as an office desk toy....until, less than a week after arrival, used for only opening/closing/tossing in a small confined space, I realized one of the small plastic connectors was already lost. That's compared with at least 5 years of use I've seen the larger one go through before it finally had a minor issue--and use by children who find many ways to be hard on it.I checked with the manufacturer, hoping for a replacement part, but they shipped me a whole new sphere instead. Great customer service! 4Very disappointedVery disappointed. Bought 2 of these, one for each of my kids as stocking stuffers for Christmas and they are 2 different sizes, and not just slightly:(. I was a little concerned when they came in 2 different types of packages, one in a bag and the other in a box. I became very frustrated when I took them out and they are totally different sizes. I'm glad I opened early but am sad I won't be able to rectify this before Christmas as we are packing gifts up now as we head out of town tomorrow. 1Better cubicle decoration than kids toyI thought it would be a little more sturdy. This is one of those toys that is better to actually hold in their hand at a toy store before making a decision to buy than purchase online in my opinion. Nothing against Amazon; it's just hard to tell the quality/construction from a photo. My 4 year old has not broken it yet however, probably because it's only been played with a few times.Some kids/adults might like this but it lost it's allure pretty quick and will most likely be in the next garage sale. It sure looks neat though and is fun to open a close for a few minutes, just the thing to put on your desk next to your Newton's Cradle. 3Works for my purposes & has held up fairly wellSo overall it's a good toy. My purpose for buying this was to use with my teenage & younger therapy clients & its my most popular item that they fidget with as a distraction. I gave this 4 stars as sometimes I have to pop the little ball joints back in. What I like most is surprisingly it has held up to even my elementary students playing with it and dropping it and one student kicking it. As far as size, I'd say it roughly expands to the size of a basketball. I will say this that it will get more loose or wobbly with time. 4Small, then big, then small, then big, then small, then big. Makes my dogs bark.It gets bigger.. then gets smaller. Little hinges can pinch you but frankly after many, many years of evolution you quickly figure out that it doesn't really hurt and to keep your fingers out the pinchy spots.Did I mention it gets bigger? then smaller? then bigger again? I like to throw it to my dogs, completely wigs them out. They just bark at me now when I bring it out.I like it. 5I love the hobermans expanding sphereI love the hobermans expanding sphere. I have the original size too. I travel around teaching kids yoga and also teaching kids yoga Teacher trainings. I bring the mini with me when i travel by plane. I use them to teach kids about breath and call it a breathing ball. Kids are mesmerized by it. Don t waste your money on a cheap knock off, downs a little more to get quality. Mine last for years. 5Nice until it breaks 2 weeks laterBought this for my son s birthday. He s played with it (surprisingly gently) and a piece has already snapped off. So glad I paid for the name brand version so it could break as quickly as the cheap ones do. 1Awesome TOY!! Too bad it is SOOO fragile.... :("Santa" bought this for my 6 year old son for Christmas last year. It was his favorite toy! He found how it worked facinating for his young mind and the design and concept is inspiring as well as educational. It has very smooth motion as it expands and collapes..it glows brighter in the dark then I even imagined...and it breaks so very easily, with hardly any effort at all. My son didn't smash it, didn't drop it, didn't hit it...nothing. We had it for 2 days before suddenly, as he and I were playing with it, one of the little tiny plastic links that folds in and out as it explands just suddenly snagged or twisted wrong for no reason with another part and before we could even stop and see what had happened, the flimsy plastic piece just snapped right off. Just like that. The toy still worked, and I tried to glue it anyway, but the plastic is that funky kind that doesn't go well with crazy glue and the pieces are so small that I was afraid it would accidently glue the whole joint together..so we left it like that so he could still play with it. It just was a little stiff in that spot since it lost some support. The next day, as he played with it with his father this time, it happened again in another spot. Then again. And again. After 4 days total it was entirely unusable and I had to toss it out. I was so upset as was my son. It wasn't a lot of money to buy, but this was his favorite toy and to see it last less then a week (when handled very carefully too!) was just so disappointing. So please, DO NOT BUY THIS. Save your child the disappointment and find a better quality one made with metal or harder plastic from someone else. I sure with I had. :( 3great toy with therapeutic value for my clientsThis toy was purchased by me for my work as a child and family therapist. In teaching relaxation to children this toy allows me to illustrate deep breathing with a fun visual aid that will keep the kids paying attention and allow them to place their hands on something at the same time. This is often important when teaching children. They tend to be easily distracted and uninterested in learning some of the skills that are needed for their treatment. This toy expands out and I use this to talk about breathing in deeply and filling your lungs up with air. When breathing out the ball can then be contracted and go back to normal size. The kiddos are fascinated with the colors and how big it can get and it provides some sensory feedback and "hands on" work that I find is so helpful when engaging children in skill building. Even if it wasn't used for this purpose its very amusing and fun to look at and play with for all ages. 5
