Customer Reviews

Great for 2nd grader - we loved it!This was really fun even for my 2nd grader who isn't much of a "games" kid.. you make stacks of $100 using two of the cards (example: a $80 and a $20; or $55 and $45) ... thief cards can steal piles... and jail cards can steal piles with thieves on them. Just great fun and you get to use some math skills in there too. It doesn't drag on for hours nor is it too short. Its a great time, maybe 15 or 20 minute until someone goes out. 5Clumsy Thief is fun for the whole familyClumsy Thief is fun for the whole family. It is fast-paced, action packed, luck of the draw mathematics fun! My 11 year old son and I unpacked it and played so we could teach it to everyone else. We had a blast! We've since played as a family numerous times with his 10 and 8 year old brothers, and his dad. The boys have also played on their own, which is the sure sign of a winner. The kids did not want to stop playing Clumsy Thief when it was time for bed. That's when I realized that they hadn't turned on the television, video consoles or hand held games all evening! A perfect "10" for this family. Thank you Melon Rind! 5Not for younger children or those with math anxiety. This is a nice game that my son and I like to play together, but right now this is a game I can only play with my 10 year old. My 9 and 7 year old hate it because it goes too fast for them to remember the number combinations they should be making. Even when I write down the partners they need to make, it simply is too overwhelming for them. I think it's because my 9 year old cries just looking at math and that my almost 7 year old it just not ready.Had I realized there was a Jr. version (make 10) I would have purchased that instead. 3Birthday present favorite!!My family loves playing this fast paced funny educational game. Whoever can add up to a 100 by tens can play this and have fun! We all play at the same time when one said GO! And that s the fun part. It just happens that we need to add to 100 to grab others piles of cards. My kids always want to give this as birthday presents. We have two boys, 7 and 10 and still love playing Clunsy Thief.Small enough to carry on trips, just leave the box behind! 5The beasties (age 4,6,7) love it.Great little game. I was amazed at how much it excites my beasties. I am also amazed at how fast they learned what makes 100. Game takes about 15 minutes to play allowing for several games during game night. The 7 year old "I HATE BOARD GAMES" will even play with us.It doesn't feel like a "learning" game of any kind. It doesn't ruin the game if the wee one shows her cards. The cards are bright and attractive. The game play is fast and frantic. Everyone has an equal chance of winning.Kids say 5 starts 5Fun, fast paced, but $15 is too much for a card game. This is a fun, fast paced game! It helps build math skills (by adding two cards together to make $100) and it's easy to learn. Our whole family plays (7 and 9 y/o with parents) and enjoys it. I knocked one star off for the price. I think $15 is steep. It's just a card game...no extra pieces or timers or pads, just standard size cards. It seems like $10 would be a fair price and similar to other math cards games like Rat-a-tat-cat, Zeus on the Loose and Exact Change (all of which we like and use in our home-school). I would recommend this game for the educational and fun factor and hopefully the price will come down. 4Your kid won't know they're learning mathThis game is so much fun that I actually ask my 9-year-old to play it! when we're looking for something to do! She was a bit fuzzy and under confident on basic arithmetic, and her teachers tried to get her to play math games they found online. The games were boring and my daughter wouldn't go for it. (I was bored too.) Clumsy Thief is just plain fun, quite competitive; the whole family (including a teenager) often plays and we hold nothing back; we are all trying to win (but usually the 9-year-old does)! Now my 9-year-old is completely solid and confident on her arithmetic and it was pain-free. I would say a 6-year-old could play it especially if you slow down a tiny bit for them, and any age above as well. Highly recommend. 5Great family game!My son (age 6, good at math) loves math and money, so I thought he'd like this game. He LOVES it. We brought it to a friend's house yesterday and the two kids played it for ages, and his friend (age 7) kept asking his parents if they could get it for him. I'm not really a game person, but even I like this one! It's quick, entertaining, and the speed with which the money changes sides means you can't focus too long on whether you're winning or losing (which can sometimes trip up my son, who is still learning to be a good sport). It's good math practice, and encourages quick reflexes. I also like that it's fun for 2 players, or for a group -- the 2 player game just moves slower, which works well for younger kids. 5Great game to help kids practice adding doubles in their heads! My son has been having problems in 2nd grade with math this year so I saw the reviews on this game and thought we would give it a try, as we are willing to try ANYTHING to help him catch up to his classmates. Bonus if he actually enjoys it! Game is simple...just has cards in a small box, maybe 6x8 inches or so. Cards consist of several thief cards, a few jail cards, and the money cards, which include $10, $15, $20, $25, $30, $40, $45, $50, $60, $75, $80, $85, and $90 cards. You shuffle the cards then deal 7 to each player. You then put down any sets of 2 cards that add up to $100 in front of you and say GO and the game begins. You are looking to either add one of your cards on top of the other player's to equal $100 and steal their stack (e.g. they have a stack with a $60 on bottom and a $40 on top, you would lay down a $60 on their $40 and steal that stack) or place a robber on their stack and steal it for you. Another robber can be played on top of an existing robber to steal it back or you can place a jail on the robber and that stack becomes permanently yours and nobody can steal it. It is better to use your robbers and jails towards the end when their are lots of cards in the stack, as the object is to get the most money. You continue that round until nobody else can play then everyone draws a new card, lays down any 2 cards that equal $100 into a new stack, then GO and the play repeats. It is pretty slow at first, until you start to get more cards in your hand. Adding doubles was also a little challenging for my son at first but started to catch on better as the game went on and he started to memorize the 2 numbers that equaled $100. I did have to keep helping him throughout. I think it would definitely be more fun with more players, so I am looking forward to trying it with Daddy as well. I also think it will be more exciting as he learns the sums better and I do not have to stop so much and help him.Overall I think this is a great supplement to helping my son with his math and will be useful as my girls get older as well! Worth the price! 515 bucks for a deck of cards...Fun way for kids to cement which combinations of numbers equal 100.I took off stars because at 14.99 for what is a deck of cards, its pricey. My son liked the silliness factor of stealing my money and the back and forth. Its just the two of us, so the 3 player thing doesnt work but we play fine with 2.Since we just got to adding to 100, I took out all the cards that end in 5. He only needed a few rounds of this to easily see 80 needs 20, 40 needs 60 etc. Once he is ready, I will put the 5s back to step it up (15 needs 85, 45 needs 55 etc). 4
