Customer Reviews

Good ideaGreat idea taken from Apples to Apples but with pictures. Could have rated it higher but a few of the pictures were risque for children. 4Wonderful picture based humor game! Similar to BubbleTalk, but easier to use with limited readers. This game is very similar to BubbleTalk, and in fact shares some of the same picture cards. In PicWits, the players hold 5-7 picture cards, and must chose a card from their hand that best matches the single caption prompt for that round. The game is played in rounds, and using the games directions, the winner is the first person to earn a given number of caption cards. Players earn caption cards via a single player who acts as the judge for that round. When judging, the player does not play their own card, but gets to chose the picture card that they feel best fits the rounds caption. This game is best played with 3 or more players, but can be modified for 2 player play as a therapy game. This game has a similar underlying concept to BubbleTalk, but PicWits is easier to use with students who may still be struggling readers. This game is terrific for use in Social Skills groups, speech and language groups and counseling as well as for family game night. These are the following concepts that this game can be used to address:-Perspective taking and Theory of mind-understanding humor-interpreting picture based social situations-Flexibilty and acceptance of other's opinion-verbal expression-Vocabulary-Discussing differences of opinions-Turn-TakingThis game works well with students in 2nd grade and up, but with caution can be used with younger students.Parents/teachers/therapists will need to review picture cards when playing with younger to high school aged players due to a few of the cards portraying concepts or having items in the picture that might not be considered suitable for students in that age range. As far as I have seen there were only a few in that I felt might be questionable, and mainly because the students I serve are in the elementary to middle school range. There are plenty of picture cards provided, and so supervising adults can remove any cards they deem inappropriate prior to gameplay without any concern. 5Funny with Some WeirdWe had fun with this at a family gathering, but some of the pictures were more intense than I expected for a family game. Nothing was totally inappropriate but some were a little weird (a baby doll head floating outside an airplane) or sexy (an older balding man covered in lipstick kisses next to a buxom young blond) given that we were playing with a group of mixed ages (the box does say ages 10 and up). The concept is easy (make a sincere, funny or sarcastic match to the caption on the table with a picture from the cards you have in your hands). We kept playing long after we had a winner because everyone was having a good time with it. 4This game is fine, I guessIf you had children or students on the low end of the age limit here, you might want to go through the cards and remove ones that will cause issues. This game is fine, I guess, but I'm not sure the design is as educational and engaging as other similar products. 3Suprisingly my son's favorite game from this Christmas. Not that I thought it would be bad, but this is the game we play every day.So it's fairly straight forward. You have a handful of cards with pictures (and they have an eclectic mix of images) and you will get a caption card flipped. You do your best to match it and people rotate judging. I've played it with as little as 3 and as many as 12. So family game and party game.Quite a lot of fun and even if you reuse cards, the variation in cards will make it so that it's shelf life is very long.My suggestion if you purchase: open the picture cards in waves. They come in 8 wrapped sets. We opened 2 right away and have moved up to 4. But we still have 4 more to open. So by slowly introducing new cards, you can really keep it fresh. My 2nd suggestion. When you have opened all the cards try this. Deal all the captions, flip a picture and match in reverse. 4Picwits gameThis is one of my families favorite games to play. It s a game that any age can play with no difference to ability. The object is to win the most hands. To play; a card called a caption is turned over (scary, funny, bad hair day, etc.), then everyone chooses one card from their hand that they feel best matches the caption. The person whose the judge (that rotates each round) then chooses the card that fits his/hers definition of the caption the best (depending on the judge you might choose a totally different card for the same caption, based on that judges sex or feelings toward something, etc.). 5Great game for all ages!Fun game! Our 9 yr old had played at school and raved about it; asking for it on his Christmas list. So easy to play, fast paced, and for all ages. Though there are quite a lot of picture cards, we quickly started seeing the same ones over after playing a few times. I haven t searched to see if it exists, but the option to purchase additional cards would be nice (someone crafty could prob make their own) to add to the variety. 5Kids love this game! This game is molded on the Apples to Apples formula. It's easy for the kids to play. When it arrived we had some neighbors over and we had a little tournament. When they had to go home I let them borrow it. Their mom ordered it that night.Totally recommend! 5Daughter s (and maybe my) favorite game! This game is the best, and good for so many ages, from elementary through (cracking up) grandparents! Seriously. We now give it as a gift to a lot of people. It s clever. It also taps into personalities & psychology. Just pure fun. It moves fast which is nice. Some games take forever & drag on, this one you can stop anytime. 5FAVORITE FOR FAMILY FUN!!!!!Family FAVORITE!!! Our children, boy (10) and girl (13), can't get enough of this game and we play it for hours on end! Much like Apples to Apples but with pictures that add to the hilarity so we like this much better than Apples to Apples. Highly recommend for all ages. Easy to learn and easy to play. Good for big or small groups. We are picky about what our children are exposed to so took out several cards for now and did not affect game at all. Never the same game twice! Hours and hours of laughs with the family! Lots of fun!!!! :) 5
