Customer Reviews

Keeping Your Brain Alive! At my request, my husband got me this Scrabble Flash game for Christmas. It looked like something I could play alone, something to stimulate this senior brain when there's nothing else to do. Boy was I right! Now, after breakfast every morning, instead of one game of electronic solitaire after another, I can race the clock building 2, 3, 4, and 5 letter words in one of three game settings designed for one-person play. It is definitely more stimulating and brain active than solitaire! I highly recommend it for individual play or several people playing together. 5Batteries did not work and were expired by almost 6 years.I love this tile scrabble game. I ve owed this game for several years and I enjoy it. I normally play it by myself , even though 2 players is an option. One of the individual scrabble titles no longer worked, so I knew I would eventually order another game. I had saved this game in my cart for awhile til I had extra money to purchase game. The game arrived fine. Even though the game box appeared to be significantly worn and taped together the game itself appeared new. The main issue I currently have is that only 1 tile would turn on when I received game. I had to unscrew the back off each individual tile, replace the non working batteries with new ones. (Each tile uses 1 flat, round batterie/cr3052). After new batteries were installed and each tile back securely screwed on , the game appears to be working properly. Every battery that originally came installed not only did not work but also had expiration dates for the year 2013. Every tile had extremely old batteries. So in addition to the price of the game I had to buy 5 batteries to get the game started. I m not sure if this game is currently still made, but I must have purchased a game that has been stored for a long period. 3Every Scrabble Lover Should OwnI love Scrabble. I rarely get to play because nobody else I know shares my love for this game. I have wanted this game since I initially saw the commercials for it several years ago. I finally purchased this game from Amazon this past Xmas.Pros:- Scrabble Flash Cubes essentially solves my problem of not having anyone to play Scrabble with. Scrabble Flash Cubes is largely played as a solo game, although it can be played with more than 1 player. This game offers three game playing options. Game 1 (solo game) - create as many words as you can with a set of 5 letters in a given time period. Game 2 (solo game) - create as many 5 letter words with a set of changing 5 letters in a given time period. Game 3 (multi-player game) - pass the cubes after creating a word, the person to have the cubes when the timer goes off is out (a bit of hot potato of sorts).- Super easy to play with really no setup. Just line up the cubes, press the button, and go.- Replaceable batteries.- Educational: The more you play, the better you will be at coming up with Scrabble words.- Fun: This game is highly addictive. Once you start playing you will want to try to better your score and/or create more words, which will lead to more Scrabble Flash Cubes playing.Cons:- The only con to this game (which IMO, is what I like about it) is that this game is really suited to play solo. If you want to play Scrabble with other people you are better off just playing Scrabble.I would definitely recommend this game to Scrabble lovers, game lovers, and really anyone for that matter. 5Fun in a FlashScrabble Flash is an excellent game to play alone, or in a group. It is nothing like Scrabble, however and if you can't think of words in a "flash", then this game will frustrate you.Game play moves very quickly and does NOT have a pause function, so if you are constantly being interrupted, you will not do well in your game. The game play is fairly straight forward with the idea being to create as many 3, 4, and 5 letter words as you can with the five letters given before time expires. The trick is moving quickly to align the cubes so they will recognize you've made a word. Most of the words you'd use in a typical game of Scrabble can be used here, but you HAVE to align the little cubes properly or you won't get credit for the word. The instructions and a separate READ ME FIRST paper detail how to align the cubes, but it will still take you a game or two to get used to the quick shuffling motion needed to make words and move on to the next word. Also, you have to put all of the cubes together after time runs out to get your score. It states this in the instructions, but it is easy to forget after the rush of your first game or two. This game is definitely not for young children as the lack of vocabulary will frustrate them. A good rule of thumb is their ability to play Scrabble. If they can play the full game with a minimum of frustration, then they should be able to handle Flash well. This would also be a good vocabulary builder for upper elementary and middle school students as it forces them to rearrange letters quickly to form words. The game also has a multi-player mode, which allows people to trade back and forth with the lowest score dropping after each round. It also can be played with only four tiles, creating 2,3, and 4 letter words instead of 5. It sounds like it would be easier, but trust me, it isn't.Overall, this is a solid game which can keep a solo player occupied for an afternoon, which is what many players of this type of game are really looking for in a word game. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes word games, especially Scrabble lovers. 4Great Game At Home, Camping, RVing and More. Highly Recommend!!!!Get it, Get it, Get it!!! I discovered this game when my RVing buddy brought it. I was hooked. I ordered two more games for myself and family. Loads of fun and challenging. Highly RECOMMEND!!!!! 5Fun for Small GroupsMy family gets in a lot of Scrabble games around the holidays, so I figured we should try this out for a new twist. So far it is fun and can be a challenge. Keep in mind, it is not a game exactly like Scrabble, but more like online games like Text Twist.I had hoped to play with more than the usual 4 for Scrabble, but after trying it out with a few friends, I'm thinking larger groups will get bored quick because only one person is "playing" at a time. Two complaints: If one cube breaks, I'd bet the entire game is ruined because I doubt you can just make do and play with four. Most games if you lose a piece or two you can fudge it, but not with this. And since the cubes are electronic, one long fall or one spill and they may be ruined. Second, the directions are lacking a bit. My friend and I, two pretty tech and game savvy people, couldn't figure out exactly how to change game and continue game between turns, etc.For the full $30 price, I'd probably stay away, but if you find it on sale, try it out! 4Fun & Quick!Scrabble Flash Cubes are fun. There are 5 cubes that come with a small storage box. Take them out, turn them on and start forming words. You can play 4 cubes or 5 cubes. A built in timer adjusts to the number of tiles you play -- giving your more time for the 5 cube game.Five letters appear - one on each tile. Use the time to form words by placing the tiles side by side. When the tiles recognize the word, they darken and you can form your next words until the time runs out. It will give you a score -- how many words you formed -- and then it will tell you how many you could have formed. I wish the game would flash the words that you didn't get so you could learn new words but it doesn't.We've been playing these a lot in the past few days and occasionally, the cubes get "confused" and don't respond. We let them sit and shut off (automatically after a few minutes...there is no "off" button) and then turn it back on and it seems to be good. The other thing...I wish there was a two player mode. Same letters to compete with one another. But that is not a two player option. The only head to head competition is in a mode where you form different words until one of you can no longer generate a new word, but that's not the same.Nevertheless, all ages are having fun with this...tweens, teens, adults and seniors.Batteries included. 4Fun and compact, take it anywhere! This is really a great game, if you like word games. I gave it to my 7-year-old son for Christmas, but the whole family enjoys it. It's simple to get the hang of it. We usually play game #1, where you try to make as many words as possible out of the 5 letters. After the time is out, it shows you your score and the maximum possible. It's really an ingenious toy! Also, it fits very compactly into a very small plastic box, making it great to take along on trips. (However, you have to have a flat surface on which to play.) I highly recommend this game! 5Great fun alone or with a friend.I purchased this for my 8 year old son for Christmas after he asked Santa for it. I have to say, this is a great game! It is perfect for him being an only child because it can be played alone. This game kept him busy while visiting family while the adults talked. It is also very portable (just a small box) and can be taken in the car (as long as you have a sturdy surface to play on, such as a lap desk)....he used it while on the trip to visit family. It is very easy to use right out of the box, which we love for an impatient young boy. The game will tell you your score and how many words were possible with the letters given. This makes the game very addicting as you try to get ALL the words, which I must say is challenging. I am a teacher and pride myself in my spelling abilities, but even I cannot get them all every time. The challenge is nice as it is not too easy, which can create boredom. The difficulty level is perfect for children (8-10 and up) and adults. Sometimes we all work together trying to think of words. I rated it high on educational value because it is a spelling game. The instructions encourage you to just place any tiles together because it may create a word that you are not familiar with - this teaches new words (my son stated "I didn't even know that was a word!" and you can encourage looking up the meaning for further learning). Overall, this is a great game for both kids and adults. 5Great game! Hours of fun.Love this so so much. My husband has went on and on about this game for years and I finally got it. Hours of fun in such a small package. One thing: go ahead and buy your own batteries for it. They arrived with the batteries in them being old and wonky. Other than that, awesome. 5
