    Perfect way to pass the time.This game is perfect for something to do while waiting, when you don't have (or want) a book to read. I was nervous about the screen resolution after reading some of the reviews, but mine is fine. I saw a reviewer mention something about the word search game he didn't like. He said the game didn't let you know if you found a word or not. But it does...there is a counter in the bottom right hand corner that counts down as you find each word, plus the word disappears from the word list once you've found it. Long story short, this game is cool. 5Fun Handheld Word Game!I purchased this for my 4th grader. The instructions are easy to read/use, user friendly game, good sound quality, can adjust volume and easy to read screen. There are 4 games, 2 of the games are fun and challenging for my daughter. Although the other 2 are even more challenging, which is good, b/c the game will get good use as she gets older, and its super fun for adults as well. Great to travel with, good size and portable. I highly recommend this game!!! 4RELAXING POCKET GAMECan't sleep without my "Illuminated W.O.R.D." ! It's a quiet word game that helps me relax in the evenings. It comes with four games that one can even play in the dark. This is a game for all ages. "Word" is excellent for keeping the minds of seniors fresh as they think up and form words from letters falling randomly in a grid. "Illustrated W.O.R.D." is palm sized, with a black and white screen. It runs on two AAA batteries and is similar to some of the word games in "Brain Age." 5Fun for everyoneThis game is a lot of fun for kids and adults. Compact enough to carry places. Several different games make it fun for hours. My 9 year old daughter enjoys it and has learned lots of new words. She has also struggled with spelling in the past so this helps her in that area also. The touch screen makes it easy although sometimes you have to hit it a couple of times for it to work. My only complaint is that you can not turn the volume off until after the unit is on and already made noise. So if you want to play the game with out waking someone it is almost impossible. A voulme button on the outside would have been smarter. I would buy this again. 5it's okayYou should know that this game makes a loud noise every time you turn it on, so don't plan on playing in the office! I was advised by the maker's customer service that the only option is to let the game go to "sleep" instead of turning it off.Let me just say, the first time I played, I beat the word scramble game!! Maybe I'm smarter than I thought, or this game is just a little easy. I'm going to be optimistic and assume I'm a GENIUS and see how I do against the other games on the device. 3Nice concept, but a defective production run.I had purchased Illuminated WORD a few years ago and found it to be relatively challenging and an interesting way to kill time. That original unit worked well without any issues, but I dropped it on concrete and it was damaged. I couldn't locate a new one locally but found it on Amazon. Reviews indicated problems with the touch screen, but I took a chance and ordered one anyway. Well, wouldn't you know it, the touch screen is in fact faulty. Touching the screen with the stylus, or even with your finger, does not regularly register. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In the games, you must select letters with the stylus to form words, quickly if you're playing a timed game. When the touch screen doesn't register a letter you select, obviously the game becomes a frustrating event. Like others, I've changed batteries, hit the reset button numerous times, even opened the unit and loosened the screws holding the circuit board to the platform to relieve pressure on the screen. The problems persisted. This new model doesn't work as efficiently as my previous version. In fact it doesn't recognize legitimate words that the previous version did (such as the word "was". Tried contacting Techno Source Customer Service via their website, but submissions produced "Error" page. Obviously some technical problems existed in production which no one detected, or if they did, chose not to deal with. Purchasing one is a gamble. It's unfortunate, for the concept is a good one. Buyer Beware. 2It Passes the TimeBought as a Christmas gift for my simple minded mother in law. After watching her spend 90% of her waking senior hours doing third grade word search puzzles I thought this would be an ideal gift. It's fairly intuitive and easy to learn. The one gripe I have is that when you choose puzzles larger than 8x8, they span over the screen size which necessitates using the scrolling arrows. After spending 20 minutes of explaining how to operate this thing she's staring the enjoy it more. Personally, I think getting a low end Kindle with the 99 cent word search puzzles would be a much more satisfying alternative. 3BIG DISAPPOINTMENTI just received this today and have it ready to send back. OMG..I would not pay 50 cents for this. The illumination is terrible and the instructions are just as bad. I tried every setting and it was still awful. Just not the thing for me and I really looked forward to this game. Even paid to have it shipped over night so I would have it fast..what a waste of money that was. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!! Guess I will wait until I find one in a local store so I can see what it is like first before I buy it. 1Fun way to keep busyI keep this in the back pocket of my wheelchair. If I have extended waiting times at doctor's appointments I have this small handheld game with me. There is more than one word game on the unit so I can be occupied foer hours. I was playing games on my cell phone but wore the battery down too may times. Found 3 games reasonably priced on Amazon & ordered them. Very satisfied with this purchase 5Fun and relaxing gameBeen looking for this game a long time. Bought one a few years ago for mom and when it finally quit working I couldn't find them anywhere. Found it finally here and my finger couldn't hit "cart" fast enough. Xmas was extra special for my elderly mom because I found it. She's yet to put it down. Fun and relaxing game! I recommend this if you love doing word games. 5
