    Nice, But Not As Long As The Ones From The FiftiesI bought two of these for use as squirrel deterrents, on my bird feeder poles. For that purpose, they work wonderfully well. However, if I'd bought this item thinking it was the same Slinky I'd had when I was 12 years old, I'd have been rather disappointed. With the original one I could hold the ends in my hands, and alternately do my hands up and down, as if I was juggling the thing (raise one hand up high, and the Slinky would remain firmly in place on the lower hand. Repeat ad nauseum). With the new version, I find there is much less travel possible, than with the old one. 4Five StarsI sent this to a friend to keep squirrels off of her bird feeder. Hours of entertainment for sure 5Bird-feeder Squirrel Guard!I bought these to hang from my birdfeeder down the pole, as squirrel guards. (I bought more than one because they're not weather-proof -- though the one I have out there now has been hanging outdoors for almost 2 years now!) They work GREAT! 5The original...It's the original, with all the inherent frustrations and joys that I experienced in 1975 when I had my first one. We got 2 to put on our bird feeders as a squirrel deterrent, but we ended up keeping one out just for play. I STILL can't make it go down more than 3 stairs. 4Great Squirrel deterrentTried to attach a video but it would upload. Perfect once I moved the pole. I use this as a squirrel deterrent for bird feeder on a shepherd's Pole. In the video beginning you'll see it having difficulty getting up in the traditional way. By the end, you'll see the squirrel has used it craftiness to avoid the slinky and jump from the tree. My fault. Knowing squirrels can propel themselves up to 10 feet through the air, moving the pole away from the tree solved the problem and offered lots of of comedic entertainment in the process. Simple but effective and far less cost then seeds typical squirrel baffles for squirrel resistant feeders. 5I did not purchase this as a toy. I ...I did not purchase this as a toy. I use it to keep squirrels off my bird feeders. I did have to add section of PVC piping around the pole as the squirrels could still climb up underneath the slinky but since widening the pole circumference, they cannot climb up underneath and my bird seed is lasing much longer! 5Original? But no fun.This may be the "original" version, but it is NOT the popular version that kids enjoyed years ago. This skinny little item is a heavyweight compared to its limber, popular cousin. This does not even "walk" down stairs. It sits there and waits to be pushed. Then it stops on the next step and sits again .. and so forth. NO FUN. I have fond memories of the old metal slinky and have worn out plastic versions with the kids. This one, claiming to the original, may not be a misrepresentation. But I doubt Slinky would have won any fans if it stayed this way. Ugh! A genuine disappointment. Sad. 1Will use on bird feeder pole to deter squirrelsI bought two of these to install on two bird feeder poles.
