    Great travel set. KEEP the "punch" sheet.Great travel chess set. Before I continue, here is a tip: In other reviews users describe the plastic pocket as a place to put the pieces then describe the pieces falling out. To prevent this, KEEP the magnet sheet that you punched the pieces out of. When I'm done I simply take each piece and press it back into the circle on the sheet with my thumb. After a few "punch ins and punch outs", they go in and out super easy. Then the sheet fits snugly in the plastic pocket without risk of the pieces falling out. It's also handy to manage captured pieces during the game.PROS: The set itself is very functional. The middle crease is small, so the diagonals line up nicely and it's not distracting. The pieces stick firmly but yet are easy to slide or pick up with one's hands. Turning it upside down or tilting it will have no effect on position of the pieces. The board has green squares for great contrast. CONS: The exterior is black and has a someone gaudy "US CHESS Federation" with a chessboard and knight on the cover. I guess I missed that in the description. I would have preferred all black to be more incognito when closed. The exterior feels pleathery like it would rip, but so far it's been pretty sturdy.I'm glad I bought this set!I'm glad I bought it. 5Perfect, except can't shut mid-game.Pros:Exactly as described.Magnets are strong enough to keep the pieces in place, but weak enough (and thick enough) to easily pick up and move.Feels like leather.Just the right size to fit in any reasonable pocket.Cons:Can't shut mid-game.One feature that I think would list this to a 5 star review is if it was easier to shut it in the middle of a game. When there are pieces on the 4 and 5 rows in the same column, it doesn't shut all the way. Just a millimeter more on the hinge part would fix that problem.Other than that, this is perfect. 4Great little chess set for playing on the go! Excellent value!I work in a bar kitchen, and bought this set to play with my servers across the kitchen window. Everyone loves it.Pros:Magnets hold very well, you can fold it up and keep a game in progress as long as you're fairly gentle with it.Tokens seem more secure than stand-up pieces, I feel like I'm less likely to knock a piece off and lose it.Tiny and very portable, great for what I use it for at work.CHEAP!Cons:Extra queens would be nice.The pocket seems a little flimsy, although it has not broken yet.Overall I am thrilled with it. So much that when I lost the whole thing at the bar (we were moving, I think it wound up in a box or something), I turned around and bought another one no questions asked. Highly recommended! 5Not very durableI love the look and feel of this, however the fronts of the pieces fall off too easily, leaving you with just blank magnets. It's easy enough to fix with a glue gun or super glue, but a bit annoying to have to do that for each piece and I'm not sure how long my solution will hold. The kids I gave these sets to certainly won't continue to make the necessary repairs on their own and will probably end up tossing the sets out when they realize they can't use them. The concept is great, but it just needs to be more durable. 3I love mineI liked my first copy so much, I bought a second one. I keep one in my pocket and practice problems on it, and occasionally I get to play a game with another person. It's just the right size for a pocket, it is durable, the pieces stay put on the board. If you want to store it in the plastic "pocket", you should keep the punchout piece. I usually just leave the pieces on the board. I have not lost one yet in over 2 years of carrying the game around with me. 5Better than I expectedI was pleasantly surprised. The picture they have on Amazon makes it look like cheap plastic, but it's actually a faux seud, soft type of plastic on the whole thing. It doesn't look or feel cheap at all. I will be uploading pictures. The case itself is slim, compact, and discrete. Discretion is the main reason I ordered it. I want to be able to sit in the library, cafeterias, ect. of my campus and analyze chess games and puzzles without attracting weird looks. I had previously ordered the Travel Magnetic Mini Chess Sethttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019F3DN6/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1which is very pretty but one good shove and a piece might slide off. Plus... in a public area it attracted attention, and people who want play. This one is just perfect.And I should mention the magnetic pieces stay on very well. No fear of losing them on a bumpy car ride. You don't have to pick them up just slide to the next square. 5Great pocket chess and quality magnet setGreat product and so convenient to have handy chess board when on the move. My son and I play a lot of chess and initially purchase this to carry with me play in the car with my 8 year old son when out about. He decided to bring board to school to play with his friends which is perfect for his backpack. The pieces are small and only time will tell how well the magnet will hold up. There is a small pocket on inside to store the pieces but leaving them on the board seems to stay put fine. I think the plastic cover will not hold up to abused which comes naturally with 8 year old.Summarize Pro/Con:Pros: well made and great visibility pieces, simple to recognize, easy to carry and pieces stay put on the board.Cons: Bit ackward moving pieces since they are magnetic and tiny. If you have big fingers, it might be difficult and challenging to slide them or pick them up off the board and move them. 5Nice ultra portable chess setI have been a chess player for over 50 years.I have hadseveral of these over the years.They are nice to review games at chess tournamentsThis isa qualitychess set,it's nice looking,and has a quality feel to it.Despite the very small size,it's very easy to play actual games on.The pieces are very legible.The magnets are strong enough to hold thepieces on securely.I have fingernails,so it is easy forme to stuff captured pieces in the pouch.It is also easy forpieces to fallout of the pouch,ifitnis turned upside down.The best way to store the pieces between games is set up on the board ready to start a new game.As with most of The House of Stauntonproducts,I have bought over theyears,this set is well worth the modest price,and probably more.HOS has good customer service.If something is wrong with your product,they want to know about it,and have anopportunity to make it right.I highly recommenf both the product,and the seller. 5Low cost and space saving; made in China.For a tiny, pocket-sized chess set that you can take anywhere, this is great. I can leave it in my car and I'll never have to think "Oh, a chess player. Too bad we're no where near a chess set." It has also come in handy for when I want to study some chess tactics without having to pull out a standard sized board and set up the pieces. From the seller's description, it seems these were meant as a low cost, space saving, and weight-friendly solution to teaching chess to a class of people; it even has the chess notation marks a-h and 1-8 on both sides properly.For consistent personal use, it does come in handy. The magnetic pieces stay secured on the board, even when folded and toted around all day, but as a "travel" set, its purpose isn't meant to be anything special other than provide convenience of a quick, to-go set. The pieces might be considered mildly inconvenient to pull off or slide around, but it beats the inconvenience of not being able to play in situations without a stable surface to put a board on. There is a little note on these boards reminding you that you can play checkers with the pieces, which is a fantastic idea,Four stars because the thing is entirely made of a plastic with a strong chemical smell (not atypical of this kind of plastic). Also, made in China. 4Perfect chess set for travelPerfect size chess set for my needs. It is small enough to be inconspicuous when I travel on the train. I use it to practice chess problems from the chess books I have. I'm a beginner, so I appreciate the magnetic pieces to keep the chess puzzles/problems fixed until I can get to them. The only thing I would change is instead of a clear plastic bag, it was another piece of magetic board to store the unused/captured pieces. The plastic bag was akward to retrieve specific pieces when I needed them. Other than that, this chess set is a godsend. It helps with position recognition, and it is less cumbersome than lugging around my regular sized chess set. 5
