it's a toy. It can't be used to measure ...it's a toy. It can't be used to measure steps in school or anyplace where quiet is needed because it can't work with the sound off. 1Great smartwatch for my 8 year old, great customer service, useless parental controls**updated review**My kid is 8, and loves this watch. He wears it daily, and has enjoyed the games, apps, and photo function. He has good impulse control, so has been able to abide by our rules for using it (no using during class, doesn't need time limits). Also, contrary to other reviews, we had a very good customer service experience with VTech. We had to return our original watch, as it immediately had problems with the camera function locking up the watch whenever he tried to use it. VTech responded by asking us to exchange the watch for a new one and reminding for the original. They emailed extremely promptly and did everything asked to solve the problem.Some slight drawbacks on the watch: there is only a 3 month warranty, so I hope it keeps working. That seems pretty short to me. Also, parental controls are available to limit use, but they are extremely basic and will only work if your child does not know how to read. Since this is advertised for kids age 4-9, the parental controls should also be usable for a 9 year old. 5Fun and exciting for kidsMy nephew loved this "smart watch", perfect for a seven year old who isn't old enough yet for a real phone. Plenty of games and activities to keep him interested and quiet when needed. I gave it four stars instead of five because two days after receiving it, the little piece that allows you to adjust the fitting of the watch broke. So now he holds it or has to wear it very loosely. 47 year old loves itThis is a fun toy that gets daily use. The alarm clock is very easy to use, as is the camera and audio recorder. We just plugged it in yesterday to the computer and downloaded a bunch of free games. More portable and easier to track than our other electronic devices. It's also less intense than playing on the tablet or computer, so I like this because it's easier to get him to stop and move on to do something else. 5A must have!!!!I absolutely love this and my son won't take it off. It's a good quality love the army and it works great. The cameras are really cool and all the features. The games and the different clocks. Definitely worth the price. I suggest getting a screen protector. I bought one and it fits nice so you cant tell it's even on it. He thinks they re kind of boring, but he really enjoys the feature where he can excerise with it and it counts his progress. 55 and 8 year old boys got bored quicklyThe boys, and the adults, were very excited about this product. But when we received it, the boys became bored with the games and other capabilities within about two days. It may be perfect for children with different interests, but our boys were not impressed. 3My son loves it, but I think little overpricedMy 6 year old used to have the older version which he got bored at pretty soon and eventually lost. He wanted another go at a smartwatch and I expected quite a bit of improvement on the newer version since there are a number of years in between. It's definitely better with double camera and all, but not quite there. In this world where there is a constant stream of cheap Chinese counterparts, I feel VTech oughtta do better. Almost same resolution, still not enough gaming options, lack of cellular functionality, etc.Camouflage was a plus though since my kid's into military these days. 3
